From what I've learned since this started, good shoes are the most important thing you invest in. I've bought three pair so far: Two pair of Brooks Glycerin 11's and one really good pair of Asics. The Asics are a little better and they're a half size bigger to allow for extra foot swelling on the longer runs, so I'm saving those for the upcoming runs that are 10 miles or more. Good luck with the running.
Yep. Around a year and a half ago my wife decided she wanted a treadmill. I suggested that if she were going to get one she should get a good one so I took her out and bought her a NordicTrack C1500. I had no idea when we bought it that I'd be using it, but I have probably used it more than she has now. Oh, I run outside every chance I get and I insist on running outside for the long runs, but it's nice to have a decent option if running outside isn't possible. I just make sure that when I use it it's always on an incline so that it's always more difficult than running on flat ground.
