Okay... this may be an issue or maybe I am looking for excuses... maybe not. Here's the question. Has anyone else noticed that heat shrink vanes seem to stop arrows from passing completely. I shot a doe last night... yes I hit some shoulder blade. The head punched through but the vanes hung up. The heat shrink was pulled down the arrow three or four inches. I use the Quik Spins. Same thing happened with a hog I shot last year. I just attributed that to it being a hog. I shot a couple more deer where this has happened and I have never had the issue before.

I have never had a deer stop a Muzzy before I switched from feathers to these vanes. I never had it happen with the old 4 inch vanes either. The 2 inch vanes seem very rigid. Two of the vanes last night were recovered in the deer.

    What say the experts?

Bitzenburger. Why does everyone use those wraps. I never understood that. I am a freak about having perfectly fletched arrows. I use 3 inch vanes. Goat tuff premium glue. I fletch a dozen arrows in just over an hour.

Good question I guess. My wife wanted an instant hot water dispenser in the kitchen. Shrinking vanes and making instant coffee are all its good for. LOL

They are very convenient but I am pretty sure are also costing me some broken arrows and lost broadheads, not to mention more difficult blood trails with no arrow to help judge a hit.

Personally I am not a fan of them. I used them once but only because I was in a pinch. Then I removed them and refletched at the first opportunity. I do use a regular wrap under my vanes though as I like to have a nice strip of white to judge blood. I haven't had any issues with regular wraps.

I haven't had any issues with mine. In fact, I'm reusing my same arrow, BH & Quickfletch that I shot my doe with. It traveled 1/2 way through her body, from her diaphragm on entry to here on exit:

Most of the time I have had an arrow stuck in the dirt. I think they just don't fold up like feathers when I hit blade. I guess I just need to move back a bit more... I do love the way they shoot.

Okay... one more question. Are you guys using NAP Quick Spins or Twisters? I have both and they are different. I am using the Quick Spins. They seem thicker and they have a wing on the edge that the Twister lacks. The Twister seems a bit softer as well... not sure about that. I just know the darn things shoot great and I have not lost anything with them. I am just noticing several of the last few have hung up.

I've never used them....have thought about it. I always just fletch my own on my Bohning tower. I use the Blazers on a 3 degree right helical.

If you can look closely in this picture... there is a Vane stuck in the entry wound. That is a Quick Spi
