Well i had a pretty good last day on Sunday. I saw nothing till 11:50 so i decided to go across the street to the land owners brother property. The main trail in his property is all thick standing grass which they sometime bed in. I ended up jumping what was probably a buck but i never got a shot. The funny part was, it was by the guys old tree stand with 5 really well traveled trails. I got back in the stand around 2 and was in it until dark. I saw 2 deer running from the bedding area to the land owners house. I bleated to them which made them stop and one run towards the bedding area. My dad said it was a buck but i'm not sure my self. About 20 min later i watched 4 doe and 2 fawns funnel out into the field one after another. I didnt see any more bucks but it was nice seeing deer after 2 weeks of only seeing 2 deer opening morning. Sorry for the long read but once i get writing it just come out.
Today was the first day I've hunted where I planned on shooting a nice fat mature doe if the opportunity arose & wouldn't you know I had a nice 8 point walk under my stand 10 before legal shooting time was over. 17 yards broadside & the fat lady will sing when I go find him in the morning. Pics will follow.
Purchased a doe reduction tag today so gonna hunt this weekend! Only problem is the area is not where I normally hunt so gonna have to do some quick scouting.
Been awhile still hunting hard when i can. We had are baby nov 13. i'm locked on a monster just hope he slips up and comes in closer than 70 yards. Watched for 30 mins at 70 yards never came any closer.
Well another season gone, sorry I wasn't any help this year. With the flooding last year and then drought conditions this year I think the deer decided to head off to greener pastures. Didn't see much during the times I was out, maybe next year will be different. Don
My exact thoughts lol. It was a pleasure being able to be in the same team as you guys. Although we didn't do as well as some other teams, winning isnt always everything.
