Wow those are some awesome pics!! Must have been a great experience!

Ya this rain blows.. I'm going to take advantage of it and do some scouting and get the double ladder stand setup for the wife and I today!!
Funny thing happened yesterday, the promotion to transportation supervisor/director I wad working towards getting the past few years, was finally offered to me, salary $60k a year.....and I smiled and instantly knew that I didn't want the job. The look on their faces was priceless!!
They said why? I said I'm going to do what's best for my family, I cannot accept the responsibility of covering drivers all hours of the night, if a 1am driver calls out, I don't want it to be my problem, that's no way to live..I've done it the past year, and I value my family more than your $60k a year.....the response was how about $65k...again I smile and said no thanks, and by the way I'm taking a personal day tomorrow and left! My wife was dumbfounded to say the least, and started crying and gave me the biggest hug I've ever gotten from her! I knew the second I set it to my boss, I had made the right decision! It's funny you work so hard for something you think you want, then when it's yours for the taking you realize what's truly important in life.

Edit: sorry to throw $$ figures in the story,,,not my style to do so, but felt it was part of the story.

Awesome to hear that decision Swamp! Not many folks can say they declined a higher position/pay for more time with family! It'll be MUCH more rewarding than any amount of money (which you've already found out with making the decision). Congrats again boss man!

Boy did we get some RAIN here today!!! Downtown Portland has some major major flooding, the river here at work has come up almost 20' from normal height!!

All that I care is they are now calling for partly sunny skies for Saturday which is wedding day!!

Great to hear that Swamp, shows that money isn't everything!

What a hunt DoubleLung!!Those are some amazing pictures. Congrats. Opening morning was today in MI, sat the edge of some standing corn, got blown at down wind, never seen what it was. Also had a fawn doe literally bed right below me, that was pretty cool. Very breezy here in Michigan, I think I am going to give that standing corn a shot tonight again with this wind. My hunting buddy who hunts the same property as me missed a decent buck, pry 105-110 inches. He said he hit a twig..... He has had some pretty bad luck the last few season. Good luck to everyone hunting, shoot straight and be safe.

NY opened yesterday.... had a doe and skipper come in during AM sit... doe hung up out of range...
afternoon sit I had a tiny doe with 2 skippers come in... she was tiny herself... thought it was 3 yearlings... but upon closer look she was just the smallest doe w/ fawns I have ever seen. Couldn't bring myself to shoot her... :)
i'll go back out tomorrow am.

The wifey and I just got back from a night of bluegrass. We really enjoyed it and found a new and great band!

It's still raining here....and will be until Monday. I'm helping the inlaws move tomorrow so wont know the next time i'll get back in the woods. Will keep yall posted.

Good luck to all that'll be in the woods.

First morning of 2015 season was a bust. Literally got skunked, as in the only thing I saw was a skunk. So I spent the rest of the afternoon scouting and setting 2 new stands. Checked cameras and movement has been slowest I've ever seen. So I probably won't be back in the woods until the bucks pick up the pace or cameras show something.

I hope everyone else has had better luck! Happy hunting.

So far I've only seen bucks this weekend. Passed a nice 2.5 9pt last evening. Hoping for a birthday buck or doe today haha.
