    good luck everyone. hunt safe.

pulled one chip at lunch today... 4-5 mature does and 3 fawns there daily... no bucks yet.
may have my daughter tip a baldie over early on and then leave them for bait for the rut... i'm hanging and checking a few more this weekend in MA.

Tried to pretend to be an airplane tonight. But it failed and I face planted/skidded across the yard. Slow motion too. Today has been an interesting day.

No bears again this afternoon.. The last two days they have been at the bait, but I've been home.. Figures!!! Our baiting season ends tomorrow so I'll give it one last hurrah.. Hoping to make it happen, but no biggy if not.

I'll be able to hunt a few mornings this coming week. I get married a week from tomorrow and we are going to Burlington Vermont for a few days after that as a short get away before our honeymoon this February. Once I get back from VT, it's game time for deer! Can't wait to head to Illinois either!

Good luck to all hunting tomorrow, and get us some points!!

I was chasing my ducks to get them in their pen. My shoe slipped off, while running, and as I tried getting it back I tripped. Was slow motion. Had time to move my arm in front of my face to keep it out of the dirt. Skidded right across the grass for a good little distance. Have grass burn on my arm and knees lol.

I have one of the little Bohning blazer helix jigs you can get at baspro. If I ever decide to fletch more than a few at a time I'll step it up to an ez fletch. Also bought an arrow saw this last year so I can just buy uncut shafts and do it all myself. If you decide to go for it, wrap the arrow before u fletch. Makes it much easier to replace them later on. I spent a lot of time with a stripper trying to get the old glue off old arrows the shop had made when I first started. And the g5 blue glue works awsome for fletchings and inserts!

Only if someone had caught that on camera...you'd be winning an award for AFV's funniest video. (Imagining someone chasing ducks around the yard, followed by a face plant!) It's priceless!

Thanks for the tips! I, like you, have tried to strip the glue off of my arrows and it's a PAIN! I will definitely put wraps on them...especially to make them look purdy!

Ever used quick fletch wraps? Are they good? Or is it better to use wraps and then add fletchings to them?

At least you enjoyed a nice sit this morning Swamp!

I got out this morning and moved a trail camera onto some oaks that a dropping acorns. I also put a 20 ft stick ladder on a tree that should be a good morning/evening spot in the rut. And a blind wedged up under a couple trees/bushes. Hope these 2 spots will turn out good! Only time will tell. I'll probably get out next weekend to hang the stand in the tree with the ladder. And hopefully be able to set 1 more stand and blind.

Good luck to all the go out this evening. I wont be able to get out. It's the mother-in-laws birthday dinner tonight.

Yep I used them for a year or so. Seemed hit or miss sometimes the fletching. Some were not well glued. And at 14 or something a box I figured I could just do it right myself!

Mornin everyone!! Hope everybody had a great weekend! This year has been full of ups and downs for me, and one of the surprising ups had been rebuilding my marriage, we fully appreciate each other now more than ever, and I can honestly say our relationship is better than when we first started dating! My wife came up to me a few weeks ago and said, I want to learn how to shoot a bow.....my jaw hit the floor! Lol!! She said she's wanted to for quite some time but felt I wouldn't want her too...same with HUNTING!!!! She said she saw and heard how passionate I am about it and it captivated her!
So for the past few weeks I've been getting her up to speed on shooting (which she's awesome at already!) and everything whitetail/hunting. She's signed up for a hunter safety course in mid October and should be ready to go as soon as she completes it! To say I'm excited is an understatement!! Can't wait to share the experiences with her, and see her reaction when she has her first encounter! We will hunt together in a double ladder stand, I'll set her up also in my sons (not hunting this year cause of hockey) ladder stand for when she wants her "tree time"!!
I'll be getting her on the forums shortly. I know she has a million questions from a female perspective..i.e. Hair, up down, so I'll have to direct her to pink pony!!!
she loves shooting daily and she's up to 35# with a bear apprentice, 26" draw. She's getting 3" groups at 20 yards on 3D targets all in the kill zone. Her Form is great, she's a fast learner!
She'll be heading out to just sit with me on a hunt this weekend for the first time, to get a feel for it. Should be a great time!

Good stuff Swamp... glad to hear it ...
My marriage didn't turn out that way and was divorced earlier this year, but my new girl expressed the same interest a few months back and is completely hooked on archery and bow hunting now. Took her first bear a couple of weeks ago and Is ready for her first whitetail! I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I know I have met my best friend and partner and look forward to sharing my passion with her for years to come... I'm very happy you and you wife have found that again and wish you both the best...
Checked CT and NY cams over the weekend... some small bucks and lots of does. Hung a cam in Mass and checked another... one spot full of apples and lots of sign. that's where I had a video of an absolute monster working a scrape last season.
Other spot cam got knocked down by a bear so I haven't had a pic in weeks... but lots of does and a couple small bucks.
I'll be out a few days this week... a couple AM and a couple PM depending on weather.

Glad to hear things are improving for you Joe. Feel free to have her send me a message whenever she has a question that I may help with!

Western MA - As I sat there, afraid to move my arm - I thought great I broke it a week before bow opens. But, nah, I was fine - and I do laugh about it.

I'm beyond happy for you Swamp!! I'm glad you and your wife have worked through the tough time and already see the result of a stronger relationship/feelings for each other! Congrats man! I wish yall the many more years of the "fire" yall feel right now.

On another note, hunting is so much more enjoyable when all your ducks are in the correct order and in a row! I'm full expecting to see you and your wife with a hero shot of about a 180"+ whitetail haha!
