Hey Ya'll. Sorry for my lack of participation to this point, but I'm dedicating most of my time towards getting ready for Kodiak Island.. T-minus 6 days before touch down.!

When I return I'll be fully engulfed in whitetails and look forward to participating a bit more. Good luck to those that hit the woods while I'm gone.!

Went to the archery shop last night to get my bow fixed. My peep site keeps twisting. He put another string around it and tweaked it. I shot it a few times and the thing twisted again. He showed me how to fix it - but it is not something I need to mess with. I hope it stays straight and not something I'll need to worry about over and over. But, I did shoot quite a bit in their range. Feeling pretty confident. So that's good.

Husband got a new back up bow. He's going hunting in a couple weeks for a black bear. Didn't want to take his good bow. So they had a 2014 Quest (I can't remember the model) on mark down complete package. It was a really good price and the shop owner had great things to say about it. So he bought that. Shot it a dozen times and even said he likes it almost more than his Mathews.

Today started goose season. Only 32 more days til bow opener!

my peep always used to twist... I had to "train" it by twisting it to the left each time I drew back... now it is fine... I just twist it out of habit now every time I knock an arrow.
I picked my girlfriend up a Hoyt Carbon Matrix earlier this year from a friend.. she is shooting great. Just started shooting a couple of months ago and she's grouping great... poor bears are in trouble next week.

I hope I can get in the habit of twisting it straight. I never realized it was crooked until I complained about barely being able to see out of it. I blamed it on my vision....whoops.

Good luck to you and your girlfriend bear hunting!

shouldn't be a problem.. we have loads of bears around here... getting out of control. I'm hoping she does and my daughter gets her first too with me. We'll see.
Haven't been seeing many big ones.. seems avg bear around here only 150lb or so.... although there are several monsters shot every season. I have been fortunate to take 2 that have tipped the scales over 300lb dressed... but the rest have been 150-200lb

yeah... the bear population is getting out of control up here... not uncommon to see many sows w/ 3 or even 4 cubs lately! No predators for them other than us.

Good luck dove hunting! I am going out goose hunting tomorrow morning. I've only been out once last year (and duck hunting a couple times). I'm looking forward to it!
