Going out tomorrow with two buddies to see if we cant lay down a few deer. Never hunted the Eastern Shore before, so I have no idea what to expect. We have about 80 acres of land that my buddy leases, so we should have the place to ourselves.

Wish us luck, we will need it.

I grew up there during my summers as a kid, my family has property in Cashville, pop 120. My family bleeds eastern shore, I love the place, its in my blood.

Flat, marshy area, most of the deer are pretty small. Lots of folks dog hunt - use to be a huge problem when I was a kid as they did not always get all the dogs back and they often went wild.

I was toying with going over this weekend, but its a 4.5 hour drive - if I could cross the bay direct to there, its like 80 miles from where I live no. But I have to go down to Norfolk and take the bay bridge up Rt 13 to Onancock. My cousin owns the house and we have 20 acres or so over, about 150 yds off the bay.

Have fun, see if you can get some sweet potatoes called "haymans" not the correct spelling, but the correct pronunciation.

Also - if you can hit Tammy and Johnny's in Onancock, it is simply the BEST fried chicken you will ever eat.

Agree about the fried chicken at T & J(Sage Diner is pretty solid as well with a 14oz prime rib special for 11.99).

Been hunting there for the last 7 years and I love it . Definitely flat/marshy/windy but lots of agriculture and hardwoods as well. If you hunt in Northhampton you shouldn't have any problems with dogs but once out of there you may encounter some. It seems to have dropped off a little but there are definitely dog clubs around but you never know what can happen they might send one your way. There are a ton of deer on the Shore so you will probably see a good amount of yearlings and 2 year olds but after that the deer are far from small. We regularily kill does in excess of 150 lbs(one last week that weighed 135 field dressed) and bucks over 200 lbs. There are some slobs over there too. Good luck!

Today was not very successful, however it was my first day on the Eastern Shore. Its hard to pin point stand locations when your not able to scout before hand. I was able to test out some new gear (Binos, Climber, New Pack) Anyway, we will be back out there Friday.
We did see some does and one 7 pointer that was out of range. I think I've found their bedroom, so Ill probably set up between that and the creek.
Oh, and it was cold today.
