So you can see why I don't like when other people do it.

How does it better aid in protecting your family. Because it is better suited for killing people?

Wouldnt any gun provide food? One or two shots is likely all you are ever going to get anyway.

I think there is a lot more truth to #8 than most would ever admit. It's kind of like sticking it to the man. Makes some guys feel like they "won".

My guess is, this is a done deal. There will be some gun control legislation born out of the many shootings that have happened under Obama's presidency. He is going to get too much pressure to dodge this one. Something will likely give way. I'm not saying I am a fan of it, but I certainly wont lose any sleep over it.

The things I purchase for my house are not capable of killing dozens of children.

It is VERY different from your shotgun and likely quite different from your sporting rifles. Very different.

I've got question, how do you see an AR being more suited for killing people than any other gun? I've noticed that quote on a lot of your post and jus curious.

ANY gun is capable of killing dozens of children.

Your right, any gun can provide food. Just like every gun is suited for killing people. How is an AR better suited for killing people? The magazine capabilities?

Your going in circles with yourself.

So let me understand this, all an AR is good for it committing a mass murder? Apparently especially small children. I'm pretty sure without anyone returning fire or basically doin anything but running away about anyone that can reload a firearm can walk into anywhere with my VERY different shotgun and kill just as many people. To classify one firearm as having a main purpose of killing is a little wishful thinking. B4 that type of firearm was the apparent weapon of choice many bolt action hunting rifles were doin the same thing.

I'm not a doomsday prepper or anything like that, but I can see a time when our country goes through hard times, or worst. If this does happen in my lifetime, Yes a semiautomatic gun that uses a very common ammunition would most certainly be a wonderful tool to have. Can I kill animals to feed my family with my 270 WSM, yes but ammunition is 2 or 3 times the price, so having say 1000 rounds on hand would be way too expensive. Can I more effectively protect my family, my neighbors, my state and my country with a semiautomatic weapon? The answer is obviously yes. Our country has been involved in dozens of wars including 2 world wars in the last 100 years. We have been fortunate that most of these wars were fought on someone else's turf. We cannot guarantee this in the future. The same government that wants to restrict my gun ownership is the government that drafted 18 year old boys, handed them an M16 and sent them off to war to fight for someone else's country and rights to not live under communism. Hypocrisy? I'd say so.

Actually, no gun is capable of doing anything. It is just a tool. I have never seen a hammer build a house. I could kill someone with either of these tools.

Why don't people want to admit that people are the problem. Until we fix people, this kind of crap is going to continue. With or without gun control.

Most people here are obviously conservative...I'm surprised at the lack of confidence I'm seeing in the Republican led House of Representatives protecting our gun rights?

Why would you think Republicans are going to vote for gun control measures? I don't even think all democrats will go for it as this subject has been toxic when it comes to getting elected in many parts of the country. Sure we just experienced a tragedy but as time passes people will forget.

I'm definitely not confident in them. Caving on taxes as we speak.

Imo, they will feel this is what the people want and they will cave in hope of getting votes in the next election. They won't want to be seen as the party that lets little children be murdered. It would be political suicide if they stand their ground and a week later another shooting occurs with an AR.

I've lost confidence in them as well as the American people.

I think by the time Democrats try to pass a bill a lot of the emotion will be gone. I really don't think there will be any significant gun law changes. Even many of the Democrats who are pushing for it have admitted that it will be an up hill climb and chances are not good the will get the votes they need. Not even all democrats will be behind this...it depends on if they are representing urban or rural areas. I think the vast majority of Republicans will protect our gun rights and also some democrats which will be enough to stop any bills proposing aggressive changes to gun law.

True, I should have clarified for those who can't see past something that is 100% spelled out.

Any gun is capable of taking the life of a child when put in the hands of someone with the capacity of taking a child's life.

At this point, high capacity magazines have imo, a 90% chance of being banned and also imo, "assault weapons" about a 70% chance of being banned.

What really bothers me is that what will really do some good. (Guns in school and eliminating gun free zones) isn't being discussed as a real viable solution to the problem.

We are called testosterone filled nuts with blood on our hands.

Odd how these crazed maniacs don't walk into police stations and start shooting. Strange how it is always gun free zones.
