And let me add, because now you have pissed me off. Some of the same people who went nuts over the Libya attack where the ambassador was killed, who suggested we should have prevented it from happening, we should have known when evil men were going to attack. Somehow we should stop those attacks and do more, but when it's at a school with kids ten under getting killed, there is just evil in the world and we cannot stop it. Really?
We can do what better? If someone wants to go ape$hit and kill 20 people they can easily. People want to feel safe & secure but the fact of the matter due to the nature of our world today is regardless of what we do "better" it will mostly be a facade. Something that looks and sounds good but in reality will do very little to keep us safe or deter psychopaths. Make the schools safer then they will go to the mall, or small town sporting events, or the YMCA, or insert any place people gather. Sad situation all the way around.
I'm sure there will be plenty of people that will get tattoos as their way of "honoring" these victims. And they will feel they did good. There is no way in a free society as we all want to live, that you will prevent people from doing harm to other humans. You don't have to be nuts to kill, you need hate, and that we have plenty of. Look at responces to the "union" thread, we live with hate everyday, some of us deal with it, others don't. It really is that simple, we have evil doers amoungst us.
When there's a will, there's a way. So let's just say he didn't have access to guns, do you think he would have just gone about his life thinking "Man, I want to go shoot up a school, but since I don't have access to a gun I'm just going to go about my life"? No, he's going to drive a car into a class room, or make a homemade bomb, or bring a hatchet, or........
Doing a better job of protecting little kids in elementry schools from being murdered in their own classes may be a good place to start...apparently some here don't feel it is even worth trying to do anything better
Canada since 1999 5 shootings 4 deaths Most be the water is better to the north. Australia has had 2 since 1999, the last was 2002. This is a country made up of former convicts.
And I didn't piss you off, you pissed your self off all on your own. WE have people here that give away smoke detectors every year, yet it never fails that homes burn down and kids die because no one puts new batteries in them, it should never happen, yet year after year it does.
No way evil is evil, you're logic has convinced me. Evil men wanted to do bad, how on earth could we stop it.
I don't there's anybody here that doesn't think our society needs to be changed. We all do. There's nobody here that thinks these situations are acceptable. Where we differ is the level of government involvement we are willing to allow. At some point it's going to be up to the people of this country to stand up and say enough is enough. In my opinion, that doesn't include the government banning guns from law abiding citizens. You can't tell me that you believe a ban on assault rifles or hand guns would prevent crime. I would argue that it would do the opposite.
Australia is made up of former convicts???? Please tell me you are smarter than that???? Considering around 80% are of European Heritage and the fact that the population exploded after WWI, one must really fail to think the values and success of Australia is on the back of a small amount of English Criminals dumped their back in the late 1700's right Gary???? By the way, Sydney is peaceful and everyone skips around town with no fear of guns since criminals can't get them right??? http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-01-12/sydney-shootings-am/3768744
Hows that spomping your feet and pouting helping, got any ideas or is it easier for you to just ***** and whine?
I think Gary is drunk....or on a tirade. Either way, arguing is futile. Should schools become guarded as securely as airports? Who knows? Should it increase from the current situation? Likely. It just pisses me off to no end to see normally logical people blaming guns in this situation, it takes responsibility away from the actual murderer himself. People act as though the crime would have been less vicious had he ran through the halls hacking kids with a hatchet or machete. Or gasp, a couple revolvers and a pump shotgun. We want to ban assault rifles...or semi automatic rifles. But why them? Why not semi auto shotguns, or semi auto pistols? Shotguns and pistols account for far more deaths than rifles annually, yet they escape this initial ban talk. Are they then next to follow suit? And Gary, not to incite you further, but your point of other countries not having as many acts of violence as America is a knock on our society, not our access to guns.
