Seeing as though I'm 14 and my dad can't help me at all I'm facing a lot of trouble with bowhunting. I have the right gear and I can hit fist sized dots and diamonds at 40 yards no problem. But my biggest problem is finding where to hunt, I had a spot earlier this year on a trail but they just stopped coming. And nothing is in the soybeans either and there isn't anything else for them to eat that I know of. So the odd's are against me I was thinking of maybe hunting a farmers corn field after I get permission. I mean the deer population is down but they have to be somewhere... But what would you do?

if i were you, i would call that farmer and ask for permission, but i would also see how much pblic land is around you and i would try my luck there as well

How close are the nearest crop fields in comparison to the property? Are there any bedding areas on your property?

Can you post up an arial and/or topo map of the property? There are a lot of guys on here who are really good at picking out obvious and not so obvious spots, that should be worth a look.

Either way, good luck to you. Don't be afraid to try something different.. Get creative :)

The deer probably stopped coming to your previous spot b/c it sounds like you were over hunting it, although I understand if its the only place you have. If you get permission from the farmer don't just stick a stand on the side of the corn field sit back at a distance for a day or so and see were the doe groups are entering the field and at what times. Then start scouting were they are entering the field, find a pinch point they are coming through close to the field but inside the timber between bedding and feeding areas and hang your stand there, just be sure not to get too close to a bedding area. That mature buck is not likely to step into that field before dark, he'll more likley stage just inside the timber were you'll be waiting!!!!
