Never seen that before. I know I'd think about sticking her a few times before I made myself keep praticeing
She's messing with you man!! 57yd di dyou take the time to range her with a range finder? You must have really been thinking about starting the season early.
Yes, actually I have. My neighbor has an apple tree that's about 20 yds behind my target & I'd get deer to the tree & cutting across my yard all the time when I was practicing.
Nice 1 Gut. Thank god it was'nt a flippin booner lmao I've never had that happen to me but I heard a story about a guy in iowa that shot the biggest buck he ever saw while practicing before he went out to his stand.
A few years back we were at a national forrest shooting range with 30 or more poeple all getting ready for opening day of rifle season in Alabama. Right before dark 2 does popped over the hill and came to the middle of the range and started feeding. Right as the warden pulls up 2 guys take a crack at her...was not their best day and one i wished I would have gotten on film. I was bowhunting the opener so I left everything at the club and failed everyone miserably.
Had the Glendell buck out in the back yard yesterday morning, I wasnt practicing but looked out and had a doe and twin fawns about 20 yards behind the target. Doe was really nervous, the glendel packs more horn than 99% of our deer herd in vermont!
That does remind me about 3 or 4 weeks ago I went out to my building which is about 15yd from a bedding area that is used by does heavilly. I took my antlers off my 3D target a few months back because they kept falling off so it looks like a doe now. as I stepped out the door a doe blew and I looked up. She was about 5 feet from my target. It was as if she was telling the target I was coming. She stood there for a split second as if she was waiting for the target to take off with her and then she split. Spotting does in ths area is pretty comon for me and I have had groups of them watch me go into the building and back out before taking off more than once. Never durring practuce though.
I once walked up to get arrows from the target and had a group of 5 deer at 15 yards. It takes a lot of control not to sling one at them. But a few weeks later and there woulda been meat on the table.
First year of bowhunting, had a doe walk 10 yds behind the target. Once she cleared the target, my wife and I each got a turn slowly drawing back, undetected. After two shots on the block, we watched her feed as she walked off.
57 yards? Out of your range? Well then, put the stalk on! Lets see, you could slip in behind your 3D target (act like your pulling arrows, that'll throw her off). Pick up the target, staying behind it and slowly work toward your deer in question. Easy enough. I've seen the indians on TV do it.
I had a spike horn come out behind me at about 20 yards while practicing last year. I didn't hear him coming in and when I turned around I about crapped my pants.
