who was the first guy/ gal that came up with the idea of putting a piece of wood and string together & flinging a sharp object through it?
lol, no I really haven't... but that's a pretty interesting concept. I figured some rich guy got the idea from a harp or something...
I believe that would be bols. He dreamt it up one evening sitting on a stool in his basement. As the story goes, he was looking out his window one evening wondering what may lie beyond the pane of glass that imprisoned him. As he stare at the Illinois countryside, he saw something, but wasn't quite sure what it was. He went to bed that night, pondering what he had seen. Large, predominantly brow with 4 legs and "stuff" growing out of it's head. He dreamed that night, a peaceful dream. In it, he heard the voice....."If you build it, they will come." Followed closely by "Bols, you have a 6 pack of booners on your property." He KNEW the 2 weren't random, and had to be related, somehow. He woke that morning, and decided if he saw it again that evening he would name it. As luck would have it, as he sat on his 4 legged stool in his basement, staring out the prison window, the same animal crossed the field. We know it now as the whitetailed deer. That night, as he slept, he once again heard a voice in his dream. "If you build it, they will come." He awoke the next morning, and with the determination of a cat chasing a mouse, he knew he had to build something to shoot this magnificant animal. Crudly, he drew a portrait of what he thought it should look like, and named it the bow and arrow. He then built it, and they did indeed come. A 6 pack of them, in fact. Where is that old bow you ask? Same place it's been since the day he built it. In the corner of his basement, where many spiders call it home.
Oh, it's widely known throughout the land. Some say it's just an urban legend, but there are a few of us that know the truth.
