My son got this in an e-mail from his boss. I don't know the story behind it. If I hear more, I'll let you all know. It maybe someone local or just something that's going around the internet. Has anyone has seen this before?

This buck is a stud!!! I just wonder how long he had to drag the other buck around after he was dead.

Seen it before somewhere. I would have to say that is not from a fight with another buck. With the velvet hanging off the bottom, I would say that buck had a pedicle by his eye and the antler grew from it.

What Dan said! At some time he has damaged his pedicle.

I remember seeing this pic maybe 2 years ago, and it was almost exactly what Dan said.

Cool stuff. Whitetail antlers are a marvel. I have read in a study that the tissue needed to grow the actual anter can be placed anywhere on a deer's body and grow. And I think they did so by growing antlers on the back thigh and front shoulder. I have never seen pictures of this, but I believe I read it in Rue's "The Deer or North America"
