Only one I got on camera is the one killed to get the picture, I have seen maybe two on our farm besides this one. The biggest I have seen was a monster on one of the worst weather days I hunted, I would not guess what he was, he was bigger than the one below. This year I plan on doing some photograph this fall in the tree. I have an canon r7 and 400 MM lens and 800 MM.

There were some great field shots of this guy, I only have one on my dads photo camera. I dropped my camera in the river that day, being I was so excited. Missed out on shooting this guy on Oct 15th. I got him late October trying to sneak out of the corn.

I never scored this deer. My uncle had a pic of him and gave it to me after I got him. He wasn’t telling anyone. Gun buck day after Thanksgiving a while back.

Clint. We all do the best we can and sometimes it's just not in the cards.

If you ever want to get your Missouri license and run around with me for a little bit during the rut I'd have no problem sharing some spots.

Appreciate it, my biggest problem is time.

I accepted a Supervisor position back in October of '22, resigned from it in March of '24. It just wasn't for me, went back to my old position up until mid July and then moved back up to a midlevel position. Less hassle and my phone isn't the one that rings when there's an ass chewing coming. I still make roughly the same amount but also work a few more Saturday's a month. I just don't get the lump some bonus perks, but that's OK.

Anyhow, working 4 10 hour shifts a week, then pretty much mandatory 8 on Friday's and what's usually every other Saturday, at minnimum, it only leaves Sunday's and a few Saturday's to get out for scouting. Sounds good at the beginning of the week, but by the end of it, not so much

I'll get it figured out, that's what vacation time is for.

Sorry to derail the thread

Did'nt find out about what happened until a year later. That's when another nieghbor who had given deer search permission to look told me. The farmer told him. The dog had actually taken us to the field 2x's but we found nothing. Took it ungutted, drove truck out.
Deer search came out two days in a row, out of frustration. I gave them 100.00 for their efforts.

Still no one can take away the site of him coming through the "slashings" headed toward my grunt calls. Rack so wide he had to keep swinging and tilting his head to make it through. Me stopping him broadside at 19 yrds for the shot. He was so big he was able to clear a brush blind I'd built after the mule kick. But then stopped in the spring pond. (Where I took my 8pt in gun this season). Head and tail down slowly headed up and over the ridge. I left gear in tree and ran to the house to call deer search. Clean pass through but very little blood.
