About a year ago I've considered Flying? I've seen Sport Athletes, Actors, and many average people do it why can't I? I've bee eying the Cirrus corporation of planes they are awesome! And many planes cost no more than an average car or a second home. That's if you got it like that. But Flying your own Plane would be Beautiful.
When I broke my arm was proof positive I couldn't fly. ;-) Many years ago I worked with a guy, elect engineer that had his own plane. We'd take off at lunch time and fly around then back to work... he'd do barrel rolls, dives, stalls etc... I was in awe and was enjoying every second of it. It beat any roller coaster or ride I've ever been on. I told him, if we crashed and died I would have gone with a smile on my face.
I have considered buying my own plane, even more so now...I've looked into flying lesson. They are expensive....Instrument Rating The Instrument Rating is a natural choice for many pilots who wish to fly more safely and with greater flexibility. Our training is designed to teach precision, safety, and efficiency while operating within the Air Traffic Control system, and prepares pilots for the challenges of flying in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). Applicants for the Instrument Rating should plan on 40 hours of flight training and 15 hours of ground instruction. Applicants can expect to invest between $9,000 to $12,000. Private Pilot License A Private Pilot License opens up a world of possibilities, no matter what your goals are. It is an ideal qualification for those who wish to expand their travel options, explore new destinations, or enjoy the satisfaction of flying with friends and family. Training consists of three stages: solo, cross-country, and practical test ("check ride") preparation. Students must complete a knowledge test and a practical test consisting of an oral examination and flight test. The FAA requires applicants to have 40 hours of flight time, although we find that students typically need approximately 50 hours of flight training and 20 hours of ground instruction. Applicants can expect to invest between $8,000 to $12,000.
I flew for awhile in college. It was amazing. Not sure if you know or not but you have to get your private before instrumental rating. I was amazed at how easy the whole thing is. With a good instructor you'll get a hang of it in no time. If you can find a friend or catch a deal on instructor fee's it will save you alot of money. Ill get back into it for sure once time and money allow for it. Talk about complete freedom Oh and the private and instrumental are for single prop engine plans only. So that honda won't work
I sometimes shoot with a retired jet and prop pilot for Virginia Tech College he's even said sometime this summer he would take me up in his Phenom 100 Now that would be mind blowing. Here's something...When the government was bailing out the GM and such they also bailed out general aviation. The deal was if you bought a plane any plane the government paid for half the price of that plane up to 4 Million Dollars. The government paid half. General aviation Got the best end of the bail out. That went on for 2 years vice what an automobile got. Thanks for the info on the licenses. Yet if I do this I plan on hitting some hunting fishing areas Once a month that I've only dream of.
