I see absolutely nothing wrong with people farming deer. Hell they farm bulls, sheep, goats, horses, chickens and everything in between. I also see nothing wrong with people having the right to go shoot these animals in high fence enclosures. Why should people NOT be able to grow deer as a source of income (same as the farmer down the street growing black angus cattle to be sent to the slaughter house). The idiot forking over $30K to kill the animal has more money than sense, but the farmer receiving the check for his livestock has more sense than money. What a great lucrative business, growing huge deer and having some idiot pay thousands to shoot it. Way more profitable than growing cattle to be put down.

I DO see something wrong with coining these deer farm shootings as hunting, and confusing the two in legislation. I have several friends who own deer/elk farms and not a single one of them would ever shoot a pen raised animal for sport. They do however take pride in their livestock just as cattle farmers do. A good friend of mine owns a 200"+ 1.5 yo buck, yet will hunt all season long in alabama for a shot at a 115" 8 pointer.

It is a business, of course it's all about the money (stupid comment, ALL industries are all about money sans non profit orgs). I'm a pharmacy intern for a compounding pharmacy, you are dang skippy our formulas are all about the money. Sure we love what we do, but to think a business should NOT be out to make a living is silly.

NC doesn't allow it. I know a guy who is friends with a guy who has one here though. He got around it by leasing land from an Indian reservation and has gotten around the law against it. It is however legal to breed deer here. To each their own. I wouldn't hunt one of these places personally.
