The only reason NOT to grill a steak at my house is because it's 30 below zero out and the snow is falling at the rate of 3" per hour and there is already 36" on the ground !!!! Oh, maybe the grill ran out of gas
The best steaks I have had are seared on my komato grill (green egg knock off) at 600° for 2-3 minutes on each side and then cooked for another 4-5 minutes. No need for a pan.
