What do you think? The cast looks great. I'm just curious as to how it will turn out...more towards hollywood-"ish," or more in line with the actual events?
Been waiting to see this...pissed they started advertising 3 months ago. I know very little about the actual events, but it appears either hollywood has taken over or they really hated each other to DEATH...
No, they really hated each other that much. A lot of family members on both sides were lost in this feud that lasted several years and basically started because one family fought for the Union and one for the Confederacy. Some where along the line there was a fight that involved a pig that got on the other family's land and so on and so forth. Should be a good show.
Seen the History Channel version of the Feud and it was really entertaining and I do believe it was actually over the killing of a Pig, where the Sheriff arrested a family member that was a reported cattle rustler. Upon his release he was confronted by Hatfield's and a cousin was shot while the others run off. And the fued has been going on ever since. Even after some of the family members has crossed the lines of marriage it still continues to this day. I remember the History Channel also had a show of family of mountain Racers that even had some of the Hatfield's and McCoys wonder if that show still come on?
Been wanting to watch this for the last two months. I've watched several shows on them. It would also be sweet to load up the quads and make a trip to ride the Hatfield and McCoy trails! They look bad@ss!
When is/was it aired? I've seen adds and they say check your local listing. I used the "Search" engine from Time Warner but draw blanks.
The DVD has been programmed. I'm pretty sure it stars Memorial Day, but is repeated numerous times and dates.
The actual feud happened about 20 minutes from my house. At this point in history the two families have intermarried, gone into business together and so on etc. I went to college with a Hatfield and a McCoy. They were good drinking buddies. Yes a union vet was killed by the Hatfields, but the McCoys were confederate sympathizers for the most part. The pig was also an issue, but I think the real issue was over a McCoy girl that wanted to marry a Hatfield.
