Ahhh gotcha. You should be able to reach out with that set up, nothin but nock! What rest are you shooting? Do you use any oil on it? I've been having problems with mine.
I'm shooting with a Rip Cord rest. Full contain, no fletching contact, full adjustability and I love it. I haven't had any issues with it. I haven't used oil on anything other than a small amount on the bolts to prevent rust. I did make a cover for the prongs to make them quiet. What rest are you having problems with?
I have an NAP QT 2100 thats awesome. 2 days ago I had an easy shot at a doe, and missed her clean. Took my bow home and lubricated everything with 3-in-1 oil. Last night(about now) I had 3 more shots. I noticed it after the first shot, when the nock flipped up. I turned the arrow from vane down to vane up hoping to improve clearance, and I was trying to quietly search for my lighter to try and heat up the 3-in-1 oil, w/o success. 2 more shots, same problem. I don't really blame the rest. I should have done it your way, no oil except on bolts. Talk about learning the hard way, I'll be dreaming about that for a while. I'm not sure, I may have gotten snow inside the spring adjustment knob. I was checking on-line, and 3-in-1 oil doesn't displace water, but WD40 does(WD40 means Water Displacement, 40th attempt). I'm going to try graphite powder. Also, the guy at Gander that put it on for me put it on a short tether, which means longer contact time. I think I will lengthen it a bit. Oh well...
Fitz, I sucked it up and bought a Ripcord, Nice Rest! The Gander guy used it too so it must be popular. I didn't use the football cord holder, I served it in. I was debating-you know how the shaft has an extra hole on the outside, for Hoyt clearance? I thought I may as well cut that off with a dremel, right? Looks like you have the same issue. What do you think?
Lee, you should check out http://www.scentcontrolsystems.com I don't know if the Graffster has this stuff on here. I didn't see it. We looked at their products at the ATA show. Also I haven't tried it yet but plan on it this year. They make scent free oil and something called extreme cream, a scentless moisture barrier that can be put on the whole bow, bolts, string, etc. Their demo at the show was convincing. Guys, tsk, tsk, no one talked about replacing your peep with a hindsight. http://www.hindsightco.com A peep won't show when you're torquing the bow the way a hindsight will. oops, carpsniper on Christine's login.
I don't think that it would hurt to nip that end off. I might have to do that on both my bow and my wife's. She has pretty much the same set-up as I do. We had our cords serviced in too. A lot cleaner, but I think I want to change the timing a little, so it'll be trickier to change with it serviced in.
