When I originally had my bow set up, the guy at the shop talked me into a peep with a alignment tube. I can't stand the whipping noise that it makes on my otherwise quite bow, so I'm looking for a replacement. I'm leaning towards G5's Meta Peep, but would love any suggestions or input. What do you think?

I switched 2 years ago with no regrets and you should do fine with the G5.
I changed due to the very fact you stated to much sound with the tube.
I believe you can find the G5 here on this very site.

I use a specialty archery products "Super Ball Peep", I enjoy being able to change the diopters for practicing. I bought this sight a few years ago when i had issues with the "tube".. I have also heard good things about the G5.. I think the Super ball Peep is more versatile. One thought though for when you get a tubeless peep, maybe look into a pre-stretched string unless you have one. I like the winners choice strings, Have had real consistent peep alignment with them.

It wouldn't hurt to look into the string splitter. It lets all the light in when it starts to get dark. I hated the fact that right around dark I could see my sights still, but couldn't see through my peep. With the string splitter I now can sit until I cannot see my sights anymore. I does take some time to get use to since it is a larger opening you need to be sure your anchor is always the same or your accuracy gets off alittle, but once I got use to mine I would not switch to any smaller peep. I got the mini cause I was worried about accuracy issues. I'm dead on with it now. Good luck.

only thing i don't like about my g5 meta peep is that if I shoot the bow more than about 5-6 shots i have to twist the string back to get the peep square again... if I had a bow press of my own i could experiment with getting it lined up better and in a better section of the string...

Thanks for the input guys! Do you all find that generally speaking, the D loop is enough to keep the peep aligned? I'm shooting a Barracuda string on my Drenalin, which I believe is pre-stretched, and if it wasn't, it should be by now after shooting it for a season and a half. Would it be worth looking at something like the Ultra-Nok XL, or is that going to be just as noisy as using a peep tube?

That string splitter is pretty cool. I never knew that kind of thing was out there.
As for the "D" Loop ... Mine works great. If and when my peep is slightly out of align, a little pull of the "D" loop to the right or left works it out. I was always leery of attaching things to my bow string. It slows it down and possibly adds more noise to deal with. My opinion is to stay with a string "D" loop.

Thanks again guys, I picked up the Meta peep Sunday, and put it in today. Seems to line-up nice, but I won't be able to shoot until tomorrow.

As a side note, my peep tube snapped on me as soon as I started to pull on it. I'm sure glad that I didn't shoot with it much more!

I also ordered a G5 Metapeep in 5/16" in early October, and re-rigged with Winners Choice string/cables (all 3)over summer. Hopefully its working for you. It may still twist slightly even with string loop. If so, then take the string off the top cam/idler, and untwist it one or two turns. That should do it.

One more thing that I really shouldn't tell people about- I just use a shortened ratchet strap hooked to my cams for my bow press. Works great for peep adjustment.
I hear all the objections, but I figure if I break it, I'll fix it. I just have to remember to back it down tooth by tooth rather than just releasing it.

Funny that you say that. The same day I also picked up a Ratchet-Lok bow press. So far I like it. Thats what I used to swap my peeps. I also like that its portable.

I looked at many of the reviews for the press, and it seems that those that didn't like it, didn't know how to properly let-down the ratchet.

I'll use it a little more, then I'll do a more thorough review.

I saw that Ratchet-Lok when it came out, its similar but with long arms that increase leverage. I just don't like anything touching the limbs if possible. Last summer I got a good deal on those Sims Enhancers that go on the limb bolts. I always wondered how they attach...-you need to replace the big limb bolt washer with theirs, its threaded on the outside of the washer to accept the cup that the enhancer is attached to. So, I had to essentially take my bow apart to put them on, and the "strap" worked great. Let me know if the RL mars the limb finish, I know it torques on both sides of the limbs.

Leebow, so far I've used the Ratchet-Lok about three times. So fr I don't notice any marring on the finish. The cross pieces have a rubber finish to them, so I don't foresee any issues.

OK, sounds good. I knew about the rubber, I just wasn't sure of the durometer rating of it(hardness). Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but would adhesive fleece on the rubber do anything for it? (I would feel better.) What size meta peep did you end up with?

I'm not sure about the fleece. The rubber coating seems to grip the limbs in addition to acting as a fulcrum. If I did try fleece, it will be on my dad's bow the first few times.:d But, I'm not sure that it's necessary.

I went to the store intended on getting the 1/4" Meta peep, but I ended up getting the 3/16". It was a good choice. It frames my flash Point sight perfectly!
