Just wondering your opinion on wearing hat lights or using flash lights going in/out of your hunting spot.

Do you use one? Or would you be more prone to spook deer?

    Appreciate the insight!

I use a minnie key chain flash light if I have to. Things go bump in the night and a light might give a critter with bad intentions reason to pause. Also use it on moonless nights to make sure the safety strap is properly clipped in.

I use a petzl headlamp and have looked right at deer and they've never spooked from the light. I use it in the mornings more then at night.

I use whatever I have in my truck. Lights are something I always forget or misplace for some reason. I either use a mag lite, my hawg light made for bowfishing, or a headlamp.

I use a headlamp. Two weeks ago I had 3 deer 30 feet from me(decent little buck, could've shot, not legal), just staring into the light. They didn't spook, we had a stare off for about 5 minutes and then they just walked off.

Same here. I primarily use the headlamp, but I have the handheld for backup.

I use a small light but I avoid shining it all around. I use it mainly to keep from stepping on sticks and other obstacles that would make a noise. I especially use it during gun season because I want anyone who might be out there to know I'm a human.

I use a clip on the hat cheapo Rayovac light that has a regular and red light on it. Works really well and was like $6 at Wally World. Also keep a mini maglite in my pack to use if needed.

Mini mag that I keep in the glove box usually used to avoid noise making stuff in the morning. Mostly pointed downward.

I did shine it up on a pack of dogs, once.

I typically use a headlamp when there's no moonlight. This is my first season bowhunting and didn't realize how dark the woods were with all of the leaves on the trees. Mid to late November foliage is nothing compared to September.

I keep a flashlight in my bag just in case.

I use a headlamp as well.. Mine has three white light settings, a red and also a blue light set. Usually run the red for walking in, and climbing up. Never had it spook a deer yet.

I use a headlamp. It has three levels of brightness then a red flip down cover. I usually use the red light for walking in.

Most of the places I hunt have fairly thick growth in the woods. I can't imagine trying to navigate a quarter or half mile to my stand through this stuff an hour or more before first light without some kind of light. I'd end up with my face all cut and scarred up and every deer in the county would hear me tripping on vines and getting caught in saw briars.

I wear a small clip-on green LED light. Green doesn't seem to bother wildlife at all.

I use one for safety... to be seen and to see. A deer couldn't care less about you shining a light... If you are close enough to spook one with a mini-mag... rest assured they have probably already seen you, heard you and possibly smelled you. You will make far more noise bumping into limbs and stepping on things without one than if you just use your light and keep it close to the ground. And... no idiot will launch a bullet or arrow at you thinking you are a Sasquatch or El Chupacabra.
