Good lord. Buckwild is a show that tries to hard to be country. I will admit the story lines do happen in real life though...

I dont follow this stuff normally but I recently started watching it when I saw it was on. So far not bad but it will tire after awhile...everything does.

I was being sarcastic... yet I did find myself watching it pretty regularly before the season ended...lol. I also heard an interview with two of the guys that were on the show. They were questioned about the "reality" of the show, They admitted the stuff that happened was real, but mostly instigated(i.e. the fight at the party) or funded(i.e. the dump truck swimming pool)

    It's like a train wreck, I can't stop watching.

I like the show ok, but don't lose a second of sleep if I don't see it. I think its so popular right now because people are just starting to find out about it. Heading towards critical mass. Its ok, but honestly...I loathe scripted reality. Some of this (and other shows) have painfully obvious "scripted" reality. I'm sure it will last a couple more years regardless, just due to the folks just beginning to watch now.

A few things... First, I certainly hope it hasn't run it's course. It's a fairly big deal for the outdoor industry to have a ton of non-hunters introduced to the "hunting is good" mentality through comedy and something they choose to watch. For the sake of the sport, I hope the show goes on forever.

Second, "scripted reality" is just that... you know that gong into the show so why do you expect any different? What "comedy" isn't scripted besides Curb?

Third, I'd rather laugh at "scripted reality" than watch and be disgusted with 75% of the "scripted" hunting shows on TV.

Fourth, if you don't like it... don't watch it.

I would MUCH rather watch the original Duckmen volumes.

Im not saying DD is bad for hunters or shouldnt be on tv. Like i mentioned, i would love to see them expanded. Maybe hour long adventure episodes...or a movie.

I like anything that accurately depicts the lifestyle of a certain region. I have been to NOLA several times and everyone looks and acts exactly like this. Hooker is our local rep and I feel 100% certain he would back up my claims.

As for the show itself, I have watched very little of season 2-3, but in season 1 Si was pretty funny, and Jase has never let anything in the world bother him.

We DVR the show and watch it. My kids 7&9 love it!!!! And my Wife and I do as well. IMHO it's so much better then any of those "Real Wife's of wherever".

I will say I think this show is only on for this season or at best next. It will run its course the same way Jeff Foxworthy did with his "You might be a redneck if" and also the way "Get R Done" ran its course.

Things don't last long. It does get to be the same thing over and over again. But while its on I will be watching and laughing my butt off!!!

Any show that's not constantly swearing, promotes good values, and entertains is great in my book.

The fact that the masses enjoy it might mean there's hope for this country.

I almost cynically disagree. (With the second part)

It seems the masses enjoy it because the country family who hunts and has a strong faith is so foreign to us it might as well be an episode of survivor to most people. What the Robertsons stand for is lost on 90% of the masses.

I think season 1 had very little scripting, but you could definitely tell in season 2 that more of the episodes were scripted. Scripted or not, it entertains me and promotes a positive message overall. I'd say that is better than 95% of the stuff on TV these days.

Speaking of scripting and hunting shows, I had never really noticed what people were talking about and then I watched an episode of Driven with Pat & Nicole.

I'm a fan of the show.
We all know it's scripted. It's for entertainment. If you want a documentary on duck hunting families in Louisiana, I'm sorry, this is not it.
The show promotes good family values and is clean. Sure the peta people don't like it, which is one more reason we should.

Like said previously though, it also promotes hunting and hunters. Sure you're going to get some yuppee people who will think they're country if they watch the show, but it may also peak the interest to people who think it's more tabboo.

The show will def have a shelf life, aside from the Simpsons, most all do.
