I am asking this question because Sunday morning I shot a buck that had broken off antler, it was one of those scenarios where I only saw his one side and assumed he had another side.
Um...that buck has two antlers unless I'm looking at the wrong image. Everything from genetics, health issues, velvet damage or injuries could cause dis-similar antlers left/right on the same deer. I've not seen a buck with truly one pedicle though yet.
You need to turn the pictures upside down, close one eye, and look while you hop in circles to only see the one antler Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hope you've got a big trunk because I'm going to put my buck in it Sorry, just couldn't resist. I know what you are asking. You expected he would have a similar rack on the opposite side.
Back in my 1st or 2nd year of hunting I had a young 2.5 yo buck peek his head out from around a tree. I saw 3 points on 1 side, it would have been my first buck, so I picked up my shotgun, put my eye to the scope, and pulled the trigger when he stepped out. Good thing I missed b/c as he ran away I then saw he only was a half-rack.
