OMGOSH!!!! I am not a automobile aficionado by any means but just seeing the commercial makes me want to "own it!!" :p :D Love that commercial! It looks like one beautiful piece of machine.... with amazing gas mileage!! Sometimes I just get stuck in the "60's" :D
i work with a guy who has the 2010 version, looks great from the outside but i had to put the seat on the floor to even fit. i really dont like the chopped top either, i damn near wrecked in the parking lot, just couldnt see all that well!
its ~ok~... I think the new mustang looks better (particularly the 550hp Shelby version) and the challenger srt is better yet... in the looks dept anyway, in performance the mustang shelby is going PWN both camaro and challenger
It's funny how cars need so much power to run a speed limit of 55 mph? friend of mine bought a 150 mph motorcycle last week... what for? I was raised in the sixtys and rode and drove some of the fastest production and non production cars ever made but back then you could run a car flat out. Today there is to many cops and cell phones and in most states it's jail time for double digit's over the speed limit. I love hotrod boats myself... open headers,no speed limits, girls already in there underwear.
my last street bike I actually saw the digital speedo tick to 172mph on a public road, who says you can't do that anymore???
and a with a couple of minor tweaks those bikes can break 200 pretty easily... a strangely addictive motorcycle compared to my R1, which was addicted cuz of the lightweight and handling, the 'busa is straight up brute force on two wheels, if you can get your hands on a CDI box from a 99 model that is not speed limited to 188mph you can add a pipe and a retune the EFI and a couple minor thing and be knockin on about 195ish under proper conditions... not that I know about those things :p edit to add - the 'busa is a 1300 by the way...
so you are running 150-180 on the interstate and a car turns on a blinker where do you land? radios are still faster bikes so out running them or a helicopter is out. Last year i headed to the lake in bumper to bumper on friday night on hwy 70 and a bike flys by me using the center white line as a lane... what a idot. probably a darwin award winner by now.cant fix stupid. I love bikes and have had a few, also have been run off the road by a car in the wrong lane of the road, and they fled the seen. some guys think it's cool to go past ya on the hwy on the back wheel with a young girl on the back so i guess it takes all types but when the two collide it's a bad day. give me water any day.:D
ok, so acknowledging I've done some stupid things in a past life, radios?? helicopters?? pfffft its not about top speed with a bike, its about its ability to get lost quickly, maneuverability, quickness, easy to hide... unless you are in an urban area and the cops can get a chopper to your area extremely quickly you can lose cops in cars when you are on a bike VERY easily... you just gotta pick your fights and know when you can and can't get away before you even start... cop runnin the other directions and attempts to make the turn to give pursuit?? he's lost before he even hits the brakes...
yep famous last words '' They will never catch me'' or " dont worry no one is going to pull out in front of us. (car crash) Funny thing a cop running radar coming the other way on a state road one day did a u-turn right in front of me... well i t-boned him right in the doors he never even seen me. I got lucky and had a witness come forward and give a statement that the cop never turned on his light until after the impact, they tried like hell to pin the accident on me for not yielding to a emergency vehicle. So sometimes it's not about who is chasing who it's about who else is endangered during the chase. and yes police radio's and cell phones are faster then bikes. just having some debate here not being pissey:D
Good debate. :D I've ridden my whole life, from V-65 Magnas to FZRs... I too have buried my speedo for a good long while on the FZR. Man, that was great fun back in the day... Both of you guys are right, of course... it's ALL about knowing which battles to fight, and ... yes, radio is faster than cars. But it depends on how many turnoffs are between here and where the next car may happen to be.
You can't compare the Shelby to the Challenger and Camaro... the Shelby is Supercharged... Apples to oranges, If you compare the srt challenger, ss camaro, and GT Mustang you have a fair comparison... And the camaro comes out on top as far as straight line power... for now.
you haven't seen the 2011 GT 5.0 numbers yet have you??? 412 hp, and ~350lbs lighter than the camaro... care to revise?? I CAN compare the shelby to the challenger SRT... just because its supercharged is irrelevant... chevy just hasn't released an uprated SS yet... if you wanna compare the challenger to the mustang a regular R/T vs a GT is a fair comparo, as is the uprated SRT to the Shelby... and when/if chevy decides to produce a 2012 Yanko then maybe they'll be in the fight... :p
I'll be interested in seeing the '11 go against each other, And I hope the Camaro does come out with a uprated ss or Yenko version(even though 426 is plenty) Maybe a Camaro with a ZR1 motor? that would be sick. Chevy still produced more bang for your buck. (HP per $) And how about the V6's? they're pushing over 300hp where will it end? :D
ya, simple fact is this, once again we are seeing a renaissance of sorts in the muscle car category... we have three very good looking, VERY good performing, american v8 muscle cars (and some uprated higher end variants with the shelby and srt) pushing 550hp from a vehicle that can pull 25mpg out on the highway... in my eyes we are in a new heyday of american muscle... these new cars are all amazing in their own rights... pick the one that has your favorite color and you won't go wrong... my preference from a looks standpoint tho remains 1. Chally 2. Stang 3. Camaro but I wouldn't kick any of 'em outta bed for eating crackers.... wait, what??:p
