Being that I just turned 56, my eyes are just as good as they used to be. Been looking and researching the verifier peep sights, as I can't read anything without my readers. Just wondering if anyone has changed out their peeps by themselves without using a bow press? Nearest archery shop for me is an hour away, not that I won't drive there to have it done, but if is possible to do it at home......... Also for anyone who uses a verifier peep, does it change your shot groupings at all. Being that you can see your pins a little better, thinking it might change where the arrow is hitting.
nope .. and I would not try it without a press ... a damn good way to screw up your string .... I dont know why more 'archers' dont own a press and just learn to do this work themselves .. its not hard to work on your own bow .. no one touches my bows or firearms but myself .. UNLESS it is a warranty issue ... then, I'd still rather do the work myself ..
I would not attempt to change a peep without being able to relax the string. Like 0317 said, removing/moving it under tension would be very likely to cut some strands. I have seen strands get cut just from adjusting the peep up/down when the bow isn't drawn. It is going to be best to bite the bullet and go to a shop where they have a press. As far as changing point of impact (POI), yes, it will very likely change your POI. Peeps that hold a verifier are generally a bit heavier than one that don't, so more weight on the string (slightly lower arrow speed), plus it is likely the peep won't end up back in the exact same spot as the old one was, plus your perspective is going to be different with the pin being sharper in your vision. You will end up having to adjust your sight some afterwards.
