Has anyone ever rattled in and killed buck with last years sheds? It would be a pretty interesting story to tell for those shed hunters out there. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this. Pretty ironic to be killed with last years head gear. -Justin-
Partial thread jack..........pretty close to original topic, plus give him a break it's Christmas after all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's A Simple One I thought this was an easy answer, most guys who rattle would use the last buck they killed antlers due to the fact the most recent buck antlers hold the most true sound of rattling. I have alway's done this and I keep bigger sizes for later in the rut for bigger deer. Those I soak in water for a week before the season to bring back a deeper sound due to the lack of moisture drawn out of the antler from drying out. So to answer your question, it is yes I have killed deer from last years buck! Rocky
Hey Rocky, Happy Boxing Day (no pun, lol) to you! I never find any sheds, so that wouldn't be a possibility for me.
Jeff I think what he means is to use the antlers from last years buck. Oh yeah Jeff, it's still Christmas day here.Boxing day is the day after Christmas. Rocky
Hold up this thread is getting off track. He's asking if anyone has gotten sheds from a deer, then used those sheds next year to rattle in the same deer that the sheds came from. I've never done it because I suck at shed hunting, but that would be an awesome story!
I read an article one time where the auther found sheds on the way to where he was hunting, then used them and rattled in the buck they belonged too....or so he thought....
my father in law has. i was sitting next to him when he realized the sheds belonged to the deer he had just bagged. he smiled a goofy smile and never said a word.
