I did not want to hijack Buckmasters thread so I'll start this one.

Besides storage and being easier to put on, what are the benefits of paying the big bucks for a harness like the Muddy or the HSS as compared to the harness that you get with your new tree stand?

I ask this because I have only ever used the ones that come with the stands. Is there a safety issue involved, or lack thereof?

I have a full body harness that came with my Millenium stand that I really like alot. It is far better than the other one I had, so that is the one I use. To me it looks just like a Seat of the pants harness pretty much exactly, but I have no clue if it is. I feel safe in it for sure. My old harness was a cheap chest only harness which after wearing the fully body harness, I would never go back to that one.

I dont believe theres much difference when it comes to safety, id say its all personal preference when it comes to safety. They are all TMA Certified no matter how you look at it.

Yep....I was thinking of ordering the Muddy harness but changed my mind. For years, I've been using the one that came with my Summit. I can get strapped in just seconds.

If this is the case I will just stick to the one I got with my Summit.

I noticed it has a strap attached to one side and in case of a fall you loop it down and attach it to the other side creating a place to stand to try to prevent blood from "pooling" in your legs.

BTW: I never leave the ground unattached. I take the extra time working the strap up the tree as I climb.
