I have 12 mm laminate pecan distressed. Order online and payed less than half what retailers were asking for anything similar.

We have a dog so hardwood was out.

My brother in law and I installed it.

That will look good Tony, I like it. Finch's Cherry looks awesome too.

I too was wondering what you were getting at. My last home was all harwood except for the bathroom and kitchen. We had a 90 pound lab with no problems?

A dog can't scratch this stuff. Hardwoods are much softer and can be scratched. Especially when they weigh 105 and slide across the floor on their nails like ice skates.

    Laminate never needs refinished

Laminate just wears through. I know, I have removed and replaced it many times on residential jobs.

I understand where tfox is coming from. I'm not sure what his actual situation is, but mine is that I have five dogs that have free access to come and go as they please through a dog door that's open 24/7. How long would a hardwood floor hold up to that traffic in long wet spell?

I know my laminate didn't hold up well. That's why I installed something a little more bullet proof than wood. :D

In your case, ceramic or porcelain tile, a real stone application or a number of man made "stone" products is about all I can think of that would hold up to that.

I make my dogs behave inside and I keep their nails cut.

My issue with laminate is the repeating patterns in it and i can tell the difference right away from hardwood...but that is me....

My wife HATES tile floors ...she says they are too cold ...I love the look of tile and wood so our compromise is hardwood throughout :D

Surprisingly, we found that using a steam cleaner (with a rotary brush) and a light vinegar solution cleans the tile and the grout wonderfully.

Radiant heat floors are awesome. Wish we had them.

Yeah, the only way I will do tile in my future home is with radiant heating.

They do have some slick tile that looks like wood planks now. Would give you the look and durability with pets if it was a concern. I just say "no" to having pets. It's easier :D
