The wife and I will be pulling the trigger on 750 sq/ft of hardwood flooring to cover our great room, kitchen, and hallway.

This is what we are going with ...Rustic Hickory from the Amish...

We absolutely HATE rugs as they never are really lean......

Do you have hardwood floors and if so, let's see them :)

    Thanks, Dan :)

The Amish sell this stuff so heap (friend onnetion) $3.95 sq/ft unfinished. My connection has a contractor that will put it in and finish it for less than $2K . The whole project...less than $5,000

Can't beat that at all! I'm in the process of remodeling our nursery. The wife keeps reminding me of how many days till baby #2 arrives. Lol.

    Man, I miss those days...tho being a grandpa has it's advantages :)

Normally I would lay the floor myself, but since it is unfinished and he will warranty it....no brainer

We did hickory in our basement with log siding walls. I love the look of hickory. Some like clear wood but I love the character of it

I just finished installing brazilian cherry in our house. Turned out great. Here's the only decent pic I have on my phone.

Thank you sir! It's actually an engineered floor since we're on a slab. Had to use 18 50# bags of self leveling to get the concrete slab perfectly flat to lay this. It was quite a job. We were glad to get rid of the nasty carpet. No more static either. ;)

Here's some from a couple of our cabins. Floors are close to 100 years old :tu:

This floor was refinished a few years ago.

We only have wood in the kitchen, typical dark oak that you will see in Illinois.

Crappy photo, but our kitchen, living room, foyer, gym, and upstairs hallway, are all 2 1/4" oak.

We will most likely do a wide plank maple or even a walnut/hickory mix in our next home.

    All beautiful, guys...keep them coming...

I failed to mention that the floor boards come in varying width from 4"-6"
