Allright... I did some counting last night, and it turns out that I'm getting close to finding my 100th shed, but I STILL have neither found nor seen a hanger. My shed hunting partner is pushing close to 50 sheds, and he's never seen one either. WTF! How many sheds should I have to find to run into my first hanger? * Admittedly - while I'm shed hunting, I'm not paying much attention to the trees, so maybe I'm just walking past them.
I have found maybe two hundred sheds at least and never found a hanger. But never really looked for them until this year after reading about them on this site.
We have found one hanger out of 1300 or so sheds between Tyler and me. Course we don't have many trees so the odds are really against us. :D Tim
Fran I found 2 hangers in one season I think it was in 09.. I have found 2 others if my memory serves me right..So 4 I believe.. between elk, mule deer and whitetails they have all been whitetails... I have to be getting close to 1000 shed finds in the past 30 years of looking.. I used to sell all my sheds. it wasnt until my late 20s that I started hanging onto sheds, so I don't have an exact # ... we used to cash them all in and at one time..at 15 $ a pound it was pretty decent cash..The market is really low now with all the elk farms and deer farms selling antlers..
