How did your evening hunt go? I was going to go out but it got so hot and windy today I didn't try it...picked up a lot of coyote hunting ground today tho and checked out the new field and stream store in champaign il, I can see that store getting a lot of my paychecks lol

Well it was a warm weekend for hunting but that didn't stop the deer from moving, saw quite a few does but no shooter bucks were present this weekend. My one buddy got his first archery deer this weekend on our property, turns out the doe he shot was a button buck :busted: I wasn't to happy seeing a deer the size of my German shepherd laying on the ground.

As much as I agree that any deer can make someone happy, that rule only applies when you're allowed to take whatever deer you want. My buddy has shot a deer before so I limited him to bucks of 8 or more or mature doe, he has been hunting long enough to tell the differences between does and fawns...very aggravating weekend to say the least.

Sorry guys I haven't been on here in awhile. I've been really busy with schoolwork and have been trying to fit in family and hunting in the mix. My main goal this year was to get my nephew his very first deer so we hunted for 3-4 days until he got his deer. He mistakenly shot a button buck instead of
the doe but I was fine with it since it was his first deer. So now that he got his deer I needed get one down. Been seeing tons of deer but the deer have been going to the one spot where I can't get a shot. But last Saturday I got a shot at a doe but we ended up not finding her. It was a nice 26 yd shot I was more relaxed then ever and let the arrow fly. I heard the arrow hit the doe and she took off on a dead run with her head and body low to the ground. She went about a 100 yds then I lost sight of her. I heard crashing but i think that was her just running into small trees and stuff. We waited 4-5 hrs before picking up the trail. The arrow passed through the doe and we identified the blood as a possible liver shot since the blood was darker. We tracked her 400 yds with good blood but we jumped her.:( We didn't hear or see her get out of her bed because it was like 20 mph wind gusts but with how fresh the blood was in the bed we knew we jumped her. Another bad thing was we couldn't find anymore blood! We looked everywhere. On the way back to the SUV, we stopped by my brothers tree to get his stuff but we noticed blood right by his tree. He had shot a doe too but not on the side we found the blood. The funny thing was we kinda thought nothing of it until like 8hrs later when my bro says "that was your deers blood by my tree." When we jumped my deer it had ran another 300yds right under my brothers tree! So we immediately got in the truck to track again. Now it's been over 13 hrs since I shot that deer and I so badly wanted to find it. We ended up tracking it another 300 yds or so before we lost blood completely right by the owners house. There's a creek running through the property so we walked that in hopes to find where she crossed but found nothing. What's your thoughts on it? You think that deers dead or alive? I'm going shoot a lot more so I can make most ethical shot next time but I guess it happens to the best of us.

Buck master I would say it's a dead deer with as much blood as you described. They can run pretty far on a liver shot. I'm guessing something else will find it before you tho with how far she's ran.

Went behind my house this evening. Had a decent buck come down the ridge and then follow the creek. Tomorrow I should be able to get setup on him better. Hopefully he does a repeat of what he did.

Anyone besides me on the team using the new app to post? Seems easier to make post to threads without going to the web page and tapa talk.

I have it on my iPhone. If you go to the bowhunting.com website on your phone the advertisement for the app should be at the top, that's how I found it.
