Went out to the property this past weekend to finish up on trimming my lanes and hanging sets. Also had a chance to check out my first Licking branch setups. Looks like someone is into it...also got some feature hitlisters on cam. 1 Month and counting until I hit the woods.

I'm here and checking in! Our season starts here in WI in 2 weeks though always a bit too hot for my liking right off the bat.

Jealous of everyone with a September hunting season but its way to hot here in Michigan for that. The mosquitos would have their way with me.

    Teams all checked in!

Checked cams again today and started a Mock scrape in one location hoping for early activity. The card pull revealed this!

That's a good one for sure. Have you seen him before or is this the first time?

Not sure If I had this one last year or not. I have had permission on this property for several years but didn't put any time into it until last year and it has a lot of potential. The property is surrounded by some marsh, crp, and big timber. The farmer has beans planted here this year and this isn't far from their house or the road. I will move in closer to the crp fields come october.

Well gang..... I shanked us. Urban deer hunt here started this week, and you are "encouraged" to shoot any deer, buck or doe, that presents an opportunity.... Ended up killing a small 7 point and a 3 point. 7 point only scores 51 5/8", and the second will count as 50. On the board, but not how I intended to do it..... I'll post pics ASAP

Well, don't feel bad. I've often wondered how participating in the contest might influence our hunting. I'm glad you got it done!

Yea... Weird ain't it? Never killed a velvet buck either. The other more important part of the story..... The bow in the picture is my sons. We lost him in an accident on 1/31/14....12 years old. He never got to kill a deer with his bow. I killed both those with his bow, arrows and broadhaeds...... Those 2 were for Jack.

Congrats on two nice harvests. Sorry to hear about your son but that was a touching tribute using his bow.
