Went out yesterday for an evening sit. Wasn't expecting to see much....ended up seeing about 18 doe 2 bucks 15 turkey and 6 cock pheasant. Didn't get anything but it was one of my better hunts this year besides my son getting his first deer. The spot I was at has about 5 acres of standing beans left by the farmer for a wildlife program he's in, if my stand was in a better spot I would have some points to out up right now, I'll be moving my stand before this weekend for a better chance.
Going out this Saturday for a hunt, not sure where to sit though during late season here. May try and sit a clover plot but not sure how hard they hit it this late in the season.
Is Clover a good enough source you think? I know it's not that hearty like radishes or beans but it's the closest thing to food in the area...
Well my season ended bitter sweet, I ended up not harvesting a deer this year but learned a lot from the ones I passed on. For the first time ever I was able to watch multiple six and eight points walk by as I wasn't interested in harvesting a 2.5 or 3.5 year old deer. The most bitter part was the ethics of hunters around me trespassing, driving around on their quads during prime hours, and the bitter cherry was finding a gut pile on our leases field this past weekend with fresh quad tracks... it's going to be a fun offseason for me and my neighbors. Thanks for all of your guys/gals knowledge this season, hope everyone of you have a great 2016!
Hope everyone had a good season! Mine has come to an end and even tho I wasn't able to capitalize on anything it was a good season for me. Also I apologize for not being active on here lately, I got a new phone a week or so ago and couldn't remember my password till today. It was great to meet everyone.
