I hunt with a buddy down in SE Ohio. My only option is a hang on stand since we hunt public land and being 15 i dont have the money for a climbing stand. Should I use the ladder looking sticks or the screw in steps? Which would be easier to use in the dark but would be easier to carry for an hour at a time through the woods in the early morning? I'm thinking of using the ladder sticks but it would be alot easier just to carry the screw in steps. Anything opinions would help.

Dont think you can use screw in steps on public land in OH to be honest.... If you can save some money you need to buy a lone wolf and set of lone wolf sticks.... they are designed for scenerios like the one you have.... the sticks form fit to the stand and they are completely silent to throw up in the dark.... I would seriously look into one of these setups.... check out youtube clips or get on LW's site and look how they setup

If you check classified on different forums, craigslist, or go to rummage sales. You will find a climber for cheap.

I have a Summit Open Shot could sell you for $125. Great for bow hunting. I can't use a climber anymore due to knee injury.

I'll look into the climbing stand and thanks for the offer.

Thanks for the knowledge on the LW. Probably just going to use a cheap setup for the hang-on or just the climbing offer.

Seeing you have to hunt public land why dont you look into using a tree saddle. Thats what I use here in Wis. seeing I have to hunt public land also. Go to www.trophylineusa.com and check out the tree saddle. You can wear it into the woods seeing it only weighs 3 lbs. and the only other thing you need with you a a set of either stacking steps or a stick ladder.Check it out .
