slap on the @ss for me, even if its someone I just met, I'm going right for the @ss.

This is why I so badly want to meet Precher Tony someday.

Yes MN...I think the rear butt slap makes the most sense. No germs and afterwards you can scent check your hand like dogs do to each other. I like it.

The fist bump is everywhere! I am watching the cartoon "Franklin" with my three year old right now and the darn turtle and rabbit fist bumped.....goodness.

 AGREED. What the heck is Ah'nold trying to prove? The whole idea of the handshake is to establish peace not competition. I do agree, that it shouldn't be like picking up a dead fish either. Besides I am more impressed by how someone looks me in the eye and smiles.

I guess I understand that being a good idea in certain situations or professions. I don't think the handshake is going by the wayside in everyday life, though.

We had a guy here at work that felt like he soaked his hand in ice water first and had zero squeeze, kinda corpse like

Justin likes to take his index finger and tickle the palm of your hand. All joking aside, I agree. Nothing wrong with a firm handshake but don't over do it to claim your manhood.

Speaking of which.... What is socialably acceptable in your area?

So is there anything wrong with a man hug?

Definition of a man hug is faces should never touch nor should either participant EVER close his eyes. Or else....

As Justin put it... punch to the sac. lol!

A firm hand shake is still the thing here. How firm depends on how much they apply or how much you like them. I absolutely hate weak hand shakes where they grab higher on your fingers. You are not sure if the pansy wants to shake it or kiss it. A fist is waiting on the other hand should he try the latter.

Knuckle bumps are for sports or competition.

Hugs are for the opposite sex. Who you can hug is determined by the wife. If you hug the wrong person... it gets you a knuckle bump from the wife in the gut, a cuff up side the head or the nasty finger shake which means you are sleeping on the couch until notified otherwise. A knukle bump to the gut means you messed up big time.
Sucking up and presents is manditory afterwards. Make up sex... well I wouldn't bet on it.

    Tim

guess i'm oldfashioned but like a firm handshake. kinda makes me believe , right or wrong, that the person whose hand i'm shaking can be trusted and is a little bit more interested in the conversation than the limp hand that is just stuck out there like dead meat

I encountered an awkward situation last week. I was at the gun range pattering my shotgun for turkey season. Walking back to my truck I passed a guy and said hello thinking we'd keep going our ways. He had both hands full and proceeded to introduce himself. I always shake sometimes hand when meeting them . Well here I am with my hand extended and he's shuffling stuff around trying to free up his right hand. He finally puts his ammo can between his legs and we shake.

Looking back I should have just said nice to meet you and kept walking. :)

I'm with Chris and Tim. Firm handshakes are done here in farm country.

Did you forget I'm not in the public sector? I'm not sure what a sick day means.

LMAO!! I got to using it as a joke on other people. I would tell them go shake his hand and get back to me. They would ask why and I said you will see. We got some good laughs when they reported back LOL
