    Any tips on handcrafting a recurve bow? Specifically the type of wood? I wanna make something I can hand down to my kids/grandkids someday.

    Go to tradgang.com. There are how-to instructions, as well as a ton of guys on there that can give you some detailed advice.

    The typical solid wood bows are made from hickory or osage.

    These bows dont last forever, unless its just a mantle hanger.

    Seems most of the custom bows made for alot of shooting and liftime use, are made of combination of materials in layers. Seems most incorporate fiberglass or carbon fiber.
