It may not have been the original question, but when someone is asking what pistol they should have for self defense my answer is always going to be "none". A pistol is designed, and always has been, to be a back up weapon only. Have you tried the 8 pellet 00-buck and compared to the 9. The 8 gives a much better, tighter pattern. It is pretty devastating
Shotgun obviously great choice I have a few of those but I keep my large safe downstairs. Upstairs in my bedroom I keep the same pistol I use to carry and thats a glock .40 cal With my little ones I need everything in safes and my large safe just won't fit upstairs.
Shotgun here also, and I'd really love to add little guy to the arsenal... http://www.waltherpistols.com/item/68805_Walther_Hand_Guns_Pistols_Walther_WAP10001_PPS_Auto.aspx
In your gun. Each shotgun (even amongst the same make and model of a single production run) is an individual with it's own character; no two are alike. That's why gunsmithing shotguns is an art while gunsmithing rifles is more of a science.
Ouch! I can't think of anything worse on the poor thumbs than double pistol grips and a 12 ga. load!!! I hate pistol grips on shotguns.
SA XD 40 in 40 S&W... the Sub-Compact version. I like how it fits in the small of your backwhen it's holstered. Leave your shirt untucked, and noone knows it's there. That and the tactical lite is a nice feature. :uzi:
A shotgun just doesn't fit under the nightstand or pillow. I keep the shotguns and rifles in the gun safe. If some idiot comes into my house without three dogs scaring them more power to him, I am plenty accurate at 5-10 yards with any of my handguns and don't have to pick shot out of my drywall.
