25 yds, heart double lung... Snapped the shaft and I donated it and the broad head to the woods gods for now (might go back and search it out tomorrow). She hit a downed tree a few feet from where I hit her, must have snapped it then, I recovered the broken end, the Easton Tracer nocks are good to go, like having them. She ran about 30 yards, huge blood trail and I heard her crash from the stand. This is the first deer that I have felt "comfortable" getting prepped, took off the carbon face shield I wear (it goes around my neck), got a good draw, solid anchor point, calmed myself down, picked a spot on her left shoulder and even considered that I needed to hold a bit left since she was quartering forward. I saw where I wanted to hit and I hit right where I wanted to - its taken me three deer to get some of the jitters out. Perfect shot, the Rage 2 blade opened her up wide and she was down quickly. Off to skin and quarter her. Not the big 10 or 7 point I have been pursuing, but more venison in the freezer. Sean
Congrats! Nothing like taking the edge off and boosting your confidence with a doe! I love shooting does, I don't feel the pressure like I do with bucks.
Just got done quartering her out. Man I totally smashed her shoulder, it was broken clear through. The broadhead did that damage and then ALMOST made it through the other side of the rib cage. It cracked the rib it hit, and caused massive bleeding. Guess there is a lot to say about having a huge draw with heavy draw weight and heavy arrows... Humane hit, I am thankful for that - last buck I hit back further then I wanted to and it bugged me. That was the reason for the deliberate, very disciplined approach today. I feel like a much better hunter then I did when I hit my first deer this year. Sean
Sorry the one pic is sideways... Those are my high speed, low drag scent free, all purpose USMC PT sweats. I wear the hell out of those things, use them as an underlayer, have other sets that I wear when I work on the house, sit around the house, everything but go out of the house wearing them (were not allowed to). Sean
Nice work! My buddy and I doubled up tonight and I got his on video. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Man, I swore I would never wear them...but now they are all I freaking wear around the house/yard. Sweats and Crocs... I am old enough (turning 45 in Nov) to not care any longer! Sean
I have plantar facitis in my left foot and I destroyed my right knee this year at unit PT (Memorial Day weekend). Had surgery 6 Jul, removed most of my meniscus and a huge chunk of my cartilage from my right knee, got tenon itis in my left knee, 23 years in my beloved Corps has not been easy on my body...and I need to wear orthotics to keep me from getting jacked up. I slip them in these and I feel great. Its that or wear sneakers/running shoes all the time. Wear these to hunt, they are easy to clean an I keep my boots in the truck in a rubber maid container and its easy to get into and out of these to switch to my boots. Really dig them. I know I look like a dork in them...oh well. At 6'6, 250 - Not many folks would tell me to my face I look like a dork!
You look like a dork! Kidding. I loved my crocs even if I looked stupid in them. Congrats on the doe!
Congrats! and guys do not hate on crocs!! they are super comfy and i wear them all the time. i need to invest in another pair and until you have had a pair i say zip it
