What a neat experience this morning. Let me prefix this by saying I've taken 2 Halloween bucks thus far including last years.

At first light I spot movement coming my way down the CRP field. I throw the bino's on it and notice it's a good buck. Then I recognize him as the 2.5 year old 7 that's I've passed twice this week. Well he marches straight in and scent checks the shrubs in my food plot then continues to the edge of the woods and starts scraping. Then I hear ruckus to my left and there is a second buck making a scrape just 20 yards away under a different tree. The buck on my right 2.5 7 sees the other buck and starts strutting towards him. The buck to my left 1.5 7 skirts him. For the next 20 minutes they strut around each other while at times the 2.5 7 scrapes and thrashes shrubs. At one point they were both 10 yards away as well as the 2.5 7 making a scrape using my tree I'm in.

At one point, the 2.5 7 raises is head and ......snort wheezes! This is only the second time in 30 years that I've seen this. That was cool. This is when it became very difficult NOT to put Halloween buck # 3 on the ground.

They eventually move off, the 1.5 working down the field and the 2.5 walking under my tree at 2 yards.

    I lose them both.

About an hour later I decide well, with their aggressiveness, let's try rattling so I do a sequence with a rattle bag. Not 10 minutes later the 2.5 comes looking for a fight. Since I'm passing him, I let him move off.

About an hour later I see him again. Someone how he did a complete circle around me while patrolling/ roaming the property.

Shortly there after I see Preacher Tony's Mr 7 point, scar and all working his way through the woods.

That's 3 of a kind 7 points for the morning and that's all I saw this am.

    Great Halloween.

    What a Night too!

I was delayed getting into my stand but I was in by 5. Immediately I saw does/fawns at the far end in a grass strip. Moments later, the 2.5 7 from the morning was there dogging the does. He disappeared and the big SOB showed again. He scent checked does, hung around for a bit and followed a doe into the corn and never came out.

Easy 140 I believe. Gorgeous!

Wow, hell of a night Rob!! I damn near had myself a Halloween buck tonight. Not 100% sure on his size as It was getting too late but I know there was plenty of white on his head, he came by me at about 18 yards. I do know that It wasn't the buck I hit on the 19th, not the same kind of rack. This one Is high with a 16 to 17 Inch spread and I believe this one was an above average 3.5 year old for my area. All In all I saw 3 different bucks tonight and 9 doe's and fawns, the 2 smaller bucks were chasing doe's the last hour and a half of light. Had them all at 10 to 20 yards at different times through out the hunt.

Thanks guys. Tomorrow starts my 2 weeks vacation and I'm after that big SOB I've seen twice now. I have a plan if he keeps towards the does bedding area. It's going to mean having to hang a stand right on the edge and using the wind but if he does what he did last night, it's a shot at him before he disappears. I know of at least 2 other shooters so I hope he shows first. Not sure how my nerves will be to keep me waiting for him alone.
