I'll be 37 in August. I can see a full on horseshoe in the next 5 years for me, and most of the hair I do have is gray. I keep it short and it still looks like ****.

If it makes you feel better, I do not feel I am out of the woods yet. It does run in my family.

Let's see....I'm 58 and it's been thinning for quite a while already, getting that glare spot on the very top of the head. I keep it cut fairly short, but I still have to comb it or it looks terrible, I think it's going to be a while before I get the horseshoe look.
Theres a bit of gray coming in, but not all that bad yet.

    just remember....

Started losing mine around 21. Now I have a huge bald spot on the back of my head. Just recently I started losing it up front and it is receding fast. I've been shaving mine short with clippers for some time. I would shave it, but I really don't think I could pull off that look. I wear a ball cap every where I go. I have since I was 8 years old. Probably why I'm freaking bald to begin with.

I had a decent amount of hair until around age 30...then it starting to recead and I am now balding a bit on top. I just recently went to a stylist and had her shave it down to 1/4 inch. I like my hair much better this way. Next time I will go down to 1/8 inch I think. I still have enough hair to not want to shave it completely. I suppose I should just go buy my own clippers now.

I've shaved my head for the last 5 years. Don't fight it. Better to own the bald look, than try and hold on.

Vito, my thoughts exactly. It's just hair.

1968 it was going. I was 24 going on 50. I now go to the barber and get a number one clipper and a shave on top. LOL It's a lot easier than the old Comb Over I had going for years.

I'm in the same boat. I'm 35 and I really started noticing the recession big time up front about 5 years ago. I had always told myself that if I started going bald I would under no circumstances rock "the horseshoe". I went the shaved head route and haven't looked back. The most frustrating part is that my dad and brother both have full heads of hair.

I started losing mine in my early 20's. My bald spot in back is thinning out very quickly now and the front is getting close to connecting with it. I just shave it every couple weeks with a #1. I may try a .5 or shave it bald for the hell of it once.

I read they found the cause, but hadn't heard anything about a cure. Something with proteins building up in follicles and preventing the hair from growing.

I've always heard that the bald spot on the back of the head = healthy testosterone levels. So adult white dudes with no bald spots are lacking...

No balding for me yet. I keep my hair short anyways. I have gained alot of white hair in the last 10 years though. It really stands out against black hair.

I am 21 and fully expect to have the Billy Donovan look by 25. My hair is so thick it is actually annoying, but my corners are creeping back at a rate that you can almost see with the naked eye.

If I cared more I'd be concerned, I'll burr it down to nothing when it becomes an issue. I will never sport the George Castanza look however...
