Been working on my indoor game quite a bit lately in anticipation of our local leagues starting up in early January. Shot my first 20 yard game tonight after about two weeks of training. Over the last 2 weeks, everything has been at 10 yards and it consisted of roughly a thousand arrows of blank bale and 10 yard games on both full size and targets that are scaled to size for 10 yards, and your specific arrow diameter.

Had a good thing going at 30 arrows and was also running low on time, so I decided to leave it on a good note instead of going for 45 arrows. Lots of room to improve on the x count, couldn't get a single 30-3x, but I'm pleased with the overall score. That's what no expectations and a good training game plan will do for you I guess.

I'm currently using an 08' Constitution at a measured 30.5" AMO, and 53lbs. Also using 2712's, Axcel 2000, CR "Target" scope, Feathervision 6x lens, Britesite Protuner rest, 30" Shrewd front stabilizer with dual 7" Shrewd side rods, and of course one of my trusty Carter "Just Cuz" releases. It's absolutely drilling the dots right now, and I've got a ton of confidence in this platform for both indoors and 3D, I've got a nearly identical pair of these Constitutions right now, one tweaked specifically for each venue.

Must have missed this post somehow. That's ridiculous shooting, Matt. I've spent the past week retuning my 101st, changed the DW to 60#, and set up a 22yd, 28yd, 38yd, and 46yd pin. I think I'm going to change the 38 to 35, and bring the 46 down to like 42. Thoughts? I know everyone sets up for 3D a little different, but what's your thoughts on pin yardages for 3d? My 22yd pin will be fine for the spots league online here.

Thanks Matt. I also shot a 450 vegas game last night for our first week of local leagues, at the end of the first 30 arrows I had a 298-21x. I fell apart after that pretty quickly, but still ended up with a 444-32x. I met up with my coach on Saturday for the first time since the end of 3D season, and I've got a few things to work on that have gotten sloppy, but my aiming and execution are really good right now.

What class will you shoot in for 3D? If you shooting HC (that's what I would shoot with your experience level), you are looking at a max distance in most places of 35 yards. If you end up in ASA sanctioned events, then 40 yards. When I was shooting HC still, I setup with a rig shooting around 280-290fps, and pin gaps of 20, 27, 32, 37 yards. When I did shoot our state ASA, I setup for 20, 30, 35, and 40.

Whatever you setup on, write them down vertically on an envelope label, trim the label to the width of the back of your riser, and put on the riser so you can see it in your shot routine. This prevents you from ever making a pin error..........:d

I believe I can only shoot AHC due to the fact that I have 5 pins, but I can't remember, the IBO site is down right now, so I can't check. Anyways, other than the pins (which is still up in the air), I'm setup for HC.

Yes, HC has a 4 pin limit.

Why not take a pin off? Most of your local stuff anyhow will probably not have an AHC, you would still fall into HC unless you plan to shoot in some of the larger national events.

Shot another one tonight in league with a full house watching. 300 - 22x :deer:

After league was over I decided to keep shooting another 15 arrows to see if I could get a 450. 2nd to last arrow.........I not only miss the ten ring but I planted it firmly in the red. :bash:

I got busy thinking about the result instead of focusing on how to get there. :busted:

Matt, have you shot with Jim Despart? I see he is a fellow NYer. Nice shooting, btw. Are you on pace to better your scores from last year?

Yes, love him or hate him.........I know Jim fairly well. The shop he manages is less than 2 miles from my work, and I was in there just yesterday harassing him to get a Brigadier ordered so I can test drive it. He's an amazing shooter, one of the best I've personally seen.

We are lucky in this area to actually have several guys that are truly elite world class shooters in addition to him. Jimmy Butt's is also local and lives only a few miles away and shoots in our local leagues, he's not as well known, but currently holds 2x NAA indoor world records, one of them Cuz caught up to and finally tied in 02' (NAA 598 @ 18 meters). Doug Williams is also from Albany, but just 2 years ago left and moved to the Lancaster, PA area to work for Kinsey. There is also a small handful of outdoor shooters here locally (3-4 of them) that have either won at the Semi-Pro level nationally, or placed top 10 in Open pro. When compared to the upper tier of shooters we have locally........I'm still a n00b. :d It's inspiring though to be in a league where 4-5 of the guys have the ability on any given night to shoot a perfect game, it certainly drives you to want to get better.

I don't know if I'm necessarily shooting better, I've shot good games like this for 2 years or so now, but I'm finally starting to get comfortable enough doing it that I am more consistent, and I'm now doing it in front of other people.

It doesn't really count unless you can do it when it matters (in front of other people)...............;)
