I was out checking cameras this morning. As I approached a soybean field I saw a nice 6 point about 60 yards out feeding. I slowly put my camera and cable lock down. I slowly and cautiously decided to circle to the left to see if I can get a better view of him. He was facing away from me and the wind was in our faces. I was able to sneak about 30 yards to the left and watch him from there. I thought he spotted me, but was suprised when he turned and started heading towards the wood line. He entered right where I was originally standing and he was sniffing the camera and lock. I was out to the field and got about 10 yards behind him, but then he smelled me, looked up and ran off. It was an awesome morning and now I can't wait for the season!!
I love situations like yours, they're too cool to experience... I also had a bit of a stand off yesterday morning. Neither of us really had the ability to kill the other-we both walked away winners.
