Well,I had some friends come up from South Carolina this weekend to hunt and they will be here for a week and a 1/2.Spent alot of times in the woods.I even missed a couple scrimmage games of my son, which I almost never do. Saturday morning I was in the stand early and had a few smaller does come by at 15 yards that I just didn't want to take.I was able to witness a momma run her BB offspring away and send him out on his own.Don't think I had ever seen that.Pretty neat. After a couple hours I hear a turkey carrying on out in the field and really making some racket. She was trying to locate some more birds,so I started a little calling with my mouth and she came running. She came in on the wrong side and I had to spin around in my tree but was able to get a 20 yard shot after talking to her for a while. The back drop is literally a real old deer stand that has fallen to the ground.I was hunting directly over it.Old stands are usually a good sign. Now the afternoon hunt was quite interesting. My buddy and I could see each other from our stands and we had some freaking DOGS chasing deer all around us.We saw (3) 2 1/2 year old bucks come through looking for does and we both passed. Then this morning I had 2 does bed in behind me at 100 yards. Then they get up and start feeding to me,then guess what, they freaking bed up again at 40 but behind trees.I told my buddy via text he needed to get down and walk around me to push them out of the area so I could get down and about that time I see a buck coming up the valley right to him.He gets right in front of his stand and I grunted to give my friend a shot opportunity.BUT my friend had already lowered his bow(he said he was going to pass anyway)Then the buck turned and came right past me at 30 yards. This deer might have been one I passed the day before.I thought about passing again but my daughter decided she was going to hunt next weekend and my son's ball season has started,my time is limited SO,I decided if he presents a good shot,I'm taking him.Well,at 30 yards he spots the bedded doe and I knew I had to act quickly so I bahh at him and he stopped and I layed my 23,30 and 35 yard pins on him so I knew I had him dead with the shot.I squeezed and hit him slightly higher than I intended BUT it was perfect.I saw him run down the hill, stop and fall over at about 80 yards. Bloody arrow. The 150 grain buzzcuts did an awesome job. I was going for the trifecta this afternoon and had a smaller doe at 25 but I decided to pass.I also had a BB at 7 yards that I also passed on.
