I never disconnect them either. I am saying I can't see how you would not have to disconnect them with the straps on the platform.
I did... that's something they must have started advocating after my relationship with them ended... Not sure if it's a CYA thing mandated by an attorney or what, but it looked downright stupid to me. I've never seen such a thing... Not trying to be harsh towards you; please don't misunderstand me. I'm really being harsh towards Summit for printing/showing such a bone-headed attachment method for backpacking their stand in and out. I see why they've lost so much business to Lone Wolf if they're telling everyone they should affix the backpacking straps to the TOP portion of the stand (the seat) and they have to UNHOOK the straps every single time you get to your tree, and then when you climb down after dark you have to RE-AFFIX your straps to the seat before you pack it together and haul it out? That's preposterous to me. Really.
Greg, You don't have to disconnect them everytime. I think you are confused on how it works. I agree it would be terrible if you had to disconnect them everytime.
OK, maybe I need more coffee this morning (too late, already switched over to green tea for the morning per my 90-day nutritonal plan in preparation for the bow opener) to understand here... sounds like there's a disconnect in what you're saying and what I'm saying. If you attach the backpacking straps to your seat (and specifically your climber bar front), how do you NOT have to remove them to get in/sit/climb?
Greg, Explain something to me that I am confused about. If the seat platform is the part that is against your body while you are backpacking but your straps are connected to the foot plat form, how does that work without disconnecting them and feeding them through the seat platform?
If you use the stock straps you unclip it and connect it to the botoom section with a quick clip to use as a teather. If you use the GWW straps they are long enough where they go outside or around the seat. They are not in the way at all. And then you have to make your own teather which is why I started this thread. http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=21831&highlight=straps
OK, give me a bit... I need to go out and buy a need weedeater this morning and my Summit's at my Dad's place across town; I let him use it now seeing as how he's 67 and I take my LW hand climber when I take him hunting. It's been since last year since I've looked at it up close and personal, so let me head over there and report back later.
Maybe that's something they've added to the stock backpack straps in later years; with my straps that came stock and all those I've seen from buddies circa the same year model as mine, it would be a ROYAL pain to unthread the straps in order to connect the two halves.
I have my backpack straps on my summit, on the platform. So I can place the platform, into the top section, and use gravity to hold them together. I then use the bungee, and my incredible stealth to get into place quickly! :D Alas, I just sold the summit today!
Oh yeah definitely. I would of went nuts if you have to do that as well. Nobody would of purchased their stands. I still don't understand how you backpack the stand with the straps connected to the foot platform if the foot platform is on the other side of the seat platform (away from you). Sorry for being such a pain. Edit: Oh just to be clear. I'm not trying to prove I'm right. I hope Scott and Greg show me the error in my ways so that I can use the straps on the foot platform. I'm excited about the possibility of doing this. Someone just needs to get through my thick noggin. :D
Exactly. Heck, I was having most of this conversation from memory, LOL. OK, went over to Dad's and took some pics.. In this first pic, you'll see that the platform nestles INSIDE the top seat portion... Here's the view from underneath... You'll see the shoulder straps pull THROUGH and AROUND the seat cushion to allow you to be able to sling the whole assembly over your shoulders... Like so... forgive the grungy look; I haven't changed out of my workout clothes from early this morning. Does that help any?
I think so. I'm looking at this on my phone right now. When I get back to the office and probably more importantly home tonight( with the stand in front of me) ill know better. Looks looks like it works. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
MUCH better! :D Are the straps down far enough to allow you to get your arms and shoulders through easily? Looks maybe like you may need to move down another rung or so on the platform, but it's hard to tell in the pic.
No problem with that Greg. The straps are folded up somewhat to make for a better picture. It should sit higher on my back this way as well.
I've had these on my lone wolf stands for 3 years now. Absolutely love them. My lone wolf hand climber and these straps feel like nothing on my back! When I use my assault with 4 sticks it is very comfortable also.
cheap way to add comfort is to put your gun sling pads on your existing straps. Get the cheap neoprene ones that slide right on and they will make an immediate difference. How much are the GWW's?
