So in regards to this thread: http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=22361

I wanted a way to make my summit climber stand easier to carry. Previously I was using the straps that came with the stand. I even added a little padding to them myself to try and help.

Low and behold I decided to order a set of these straps from GWW.

I installed them on my Summit tonight.

    It looks like this.

So I tried it out and walked around with the stand on my back for ~10min. Where my shoulders would already be hurting and pinched before it felt great now.

I also was able to get the stand to sit higher and tighter to my body now with these straps which is going to sure make it seem lighter.

Even though the stand doesn't weight any less, it felt like it was at least a 1/3 lighter than before. A much bigger difference than I anticipated.

If you are still using the stock straps on a stand you carry, I highly suggest you consider a set of GWW straps.

These straps should work for both climbers and hang-on's.

And I really love the fact that they're quick-release to get the stand off your back, yet when you throw it back up on there again you just grab the two tag-ends of the straps and cinch them back down and you're good to go again.

    They're worth every penny. :)

One thing I want to do Greg is somehow create a "Stop" so that when loosening the straps when I get to my stand I don't accidentally go too far and unfeed the the strap out of the buckle. Perhaps a safety pin or something. Ideas?

Phillip, I think you told me awhile back you have the padded Lone Wolf straps. I have never seen those in person so I don't know how they compare. I can tell you these GWW are quality built. I don't get a cheap feeling at all from them and they are American made in Wisconsin.

Its the padded Summit straps I have. I got them when my original one broke. I've been eyeing those GWW straps for a while though.

I need two sets of backpack straps this year. I was gonna get two "Claw" sets, but I just ordered a set of these to try.

I tie the end in a knot.... Works great because you have something to grab a hold of when tightening up the straps.

Why do you have the straps on the top section of your climber?

I'll take a look at the knot. Hopefully it's long enough because I have my straps set to keep the padding as high as possible.

On the summit climbers the foot platform is not flat like a LW. The way the stand packs is the foot platform packs inside of the top section. So the straps have to go on the top section.

Edit: They must have changed the design from when I got my stand 3 years ago. Look at the picture above, the top section is where the straps are attached to like mine is. Then you would disconnect the straps on the top and connect to bottom to use a teather while in the tree.

Now look at this picture on the 2011 models. The straps are on the foot platform and they have a seperate rope for the teather. It must be now that the top section packs inside of the footplat form. Boy would that be nice.

I will take a pic of my gww straps here in a bit and post them. I used a summit for 9 years all of my buddies have summits. All came with the straps attached to the platform.

Oh... I misunderstood what part you were talking about. I tied the ends of the straps, the part that you grab hold of when tightening or loosening the straps to when putting on or removing the stand from your back.

I must be missing something. I've always had the straps on the top section.

One thing for sure is I'm going to look at that again tonight.

    Pics would be great.

My straps are connected to the platform, as shown in your pic here:

My stand is from the late 90's or early 2000's? It's an aluminum Viper/Cobra platform...

Honestly, I've never had the problem of having the straps come all the way through and out the cinch-down buckle... but tying a small overhand knot in the ends like Scott suggests should do the trick nicely.

    Greg,

Which part fits into which? Does the foot platform fit into the top section like mine or does the top section fit into the foot platform?

The platform goes inside the seat... then you pull your shoulder straps out and sling it on your back.

I would never attach my backpack straps to the seat portion of my climber... if I had to unhook it every time I reached my tree, I'd be screaming mad in less than a week of hunting.

Wow... we are really on different pages Greg. lol.

The way I see it the reason I have to have the straps attached to the top section is so that I don't have to disconnect them everytime. The way I see it if you have them attached to the foot platform you would have to disconnect them so you can feed them through the seat to get to your body.:confused::confused:

Did you see the instructions I posted above how it shows you to attach them to the top section?

I NEVER disconnect them... that would drive me bonkers. I'd have sold the stand after the first week if I'd had to do that.

Honestly, I've never heard of anyone who has/does.
