after watching the state of the union address the other night makes a person kind of wonder if the inmates are running the prison, hell even the supreme cort judge mumbled, " thats not true" it's all over the news.

hell how are we supposed to get along??

In Texas a GW has the most rights, they can check your shed, your freezer, etc without a warrant and if they find evidence of an illegal taken deer or game they can take your rifle, bow, etc as well as the vehicle the deer was taken with.

I would have a real problem with someone looking through my vehicle if there was no probable cause.

That is exactly correct, entering onto private lands and conducting a search or seizure are totally different things.

That is also correct, that is why they utilize the supreme court and case law.

An officer doesn't need a search warrant to enter someone's property. Only to conduct a search or seizure. Like I said, then there are numerous exceptions to them needing a SW.

I'm not trying to ruffle feathers, but rather help explain why they might have done what they did.

4th amendment law is very interesting stuff. I'm not going to go into the background of my knowledge on the subject for a number reasons, but when I said you should take a class I meant that literraly. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 4th amendment training and would recommend to anyone to learn it the best you can. You owe it to yourself as a citizen of this country. I'm all about the govt not infringing upon someone's civil rights. I live and breath "Don't Tread on Me" all the way. But, like I said there is alot more to it than some are acknowledging.

Just like someone can call you in for a violation, you can call in a complaint if you think a GW has violated your 4th amendment rights.....every agency has a system for investigation those types of allegations.

Just remember 99% of them are out there to help with things we all believe in.

On that note, good luck with this one guys, I'm done with the topic.

yes. nine judges that dont agree either. tiebreaker :D i love them guys

guess the one guy did not agree with the president the other night during his speech.

If there were only one way to look at things i guess there would be only one judge, but there are nine in the supreme court.

also what is great about this country is if a judge does not give me the verdict i want i just go up the ladder until i find one that will go my way, best lawyer wins right.:D

My whole job is based around complaints. Thats all i do, waterway and wetland encroachment complaints. When we receive a complaint(internet or 1-800) i'm authorized to investigate on private property. If the landowner tells me to get bent, i leave and go get a search warrant if necessary. More than half of the time it is neighbor vs. neighbor but the majority of the time it is something legit. When driving around, if I can see an encroachment from the road, I can investigate it. I'm not sure what the Virginia laws are but there's a good chance it was all legit.

Aaron, I may not remember correctly, but did you not have another hunter on the same lands, or the farmer let someone hunt but does not have the hunting rights..I thought i remember something of the sort, did you ever question that or get sole permission. If you did that could be your answer right there.

Gentleman, the lawbreakers do not turn themselves in, they must be caught oin the act, I had a GW wlak in on me this year to check to see if I was hunting over corn...Lee is a buddy (not a friend) but a buddy. He later caught a guy down the road baiting. I was pissed at first, but thought, you know my hunt gets ruined alot by poachers, tresspassers etc...If I have to give up one hunt for him to confirm I am a good guy, then so be it. 2 weeks ago we called the GW to report a gunshot, they arrived in 20 minutes with cops and caught a guy cleaning a deer (bow only county). Now had I "questioned" authority I can assure you they would not have arrived so swiftly..or even at all. I KNOW I am clean so I welcome them...now if they can in on me, say 3 or 4 times then I would say come on guys this is now a problem, but once or twice...nah.

Yes you are very correct, but no I haven't said anything yet, I'm going to keep my mouth shut until I have the $$ to propose a lease.

You guys have really put in some great, thoughts, facts, opinions, I have really enjoyed all of your input. Thanks.
