I'm going to change my viewpoint. Not from jumping on someone who may in fact be seeking help from more experienced hunters in an effort to retrieve his animal. I stand behind the fact that it has or will happen to us all, admitted or not. Where I change my viewpoint is the likelihood this is a real "help seeking" post. It's almost like a compilation of all the bad shot threads put into one scenario as a mocking moment when I reread it. His last activity was the same time as posting of this thread, no follow up view to read advice given so being insulted isn't the case for no reply. Maybe it was too early when I read it the first time, or I have a bit too much adult beverage in me now, but as a few have pointed out already, this now to me reads like a post to stir the pot.
My first thought was there is no way this is a real first post! A person who has never posted before isn't going to come on here and ask for all these opinions and discuss a lost deer this openly. I could be wrong, if I am and it is legit, I hope he finds his deer. I just know I would be asking friends, family members, anyone I personally knew in my community for help immediately before I took to an online forum that I had never participated in before.
Want to get lit up? Call somebody on it, or if they do something dumb like leaving the bow out in the back yard and wonder why it is no longer there and you point out the error of their ways and heck they call you hurtful names. I like to think we all have BS meters some just have better filters than others. I guess some need to develop a filter I wish you luck.
I say the buck survived. Everyone knows guts grow back, much like a lizards tail when it's removed. If I was you I'd be back in the stand ready to shoot another. This time you've learned your mistake and you can confidently make that shot without doubt.
I never thought to think that wounded deer posts like this might be non-hunters trolling. Looking for proof that wounded deer is the norm for bowhunters even though the estimated recovery rate for bowhunting is something like 85%....at least I think I remember reading that somewhere recently.
Wow can't believe some of the rude comments. First off I finally was able to log in because I forgot my password when I made the account. I wrote it down now. I have searched all over and not found anything. I have permission from a neighbor near by to walk his land when gun season closes this weekend. Yes I want the rack on this buck obviously and the meat as well but I looked the first 2 days and then back to work. I'm not giving up on this deer. It's not easy getting permission to walk everyone's land during gun season. I shot him 2 days before gun opener. If he's dead I'm going to find him.
