We let this one guy hunt our property because he helps us out in return with other stuff. So this weekend, he decides to hunt up by us. Ok fine whatever. So he ends up seeing about 20 deer in 2 hours and he shoots a doe with a buck on her trail. Now, he has other places to hunt, even a place that he owns. My guess is that he wanted to shoot a doe by us and not screw it up by him. So fast forward 2 days later. I get a call from the neighbor saying that he left his gutpile in the middle of the hot foodplot 20 yards from the stand. He said there has been coyotes there since he left. I am going to be hunting that same stand next weekend. My question is, how long and how much will this screw things up, and how long will the yotes be in there? I'm sorry, but this sort of ignorance just frustrated me, because it's the simple things that they could do to be respectful to people hunting after them. Rant over, thanks
Shane If it's a gut pile,it'll be gone by the morning,13 yotes ate 1/2 my buck within 3 hours from shooting him a few years back. If there problem yotes it won't take long . You'll be good to hunt there asap . Rocky
It's disrespectful at least and improper etiquette, if he can't be more respectful than that of someone nice enough to let him hunt he'd be short one place to hunt from now on.
Lack of consideration, or just plain doesn't give a chit. Seems to be the theme these days, doesn't it?
So is it him shooting the doe or the gut pile you have a problem with? If I had been hunting on your land I would gut the deer where it died because that is what we do where I hunt. I think it is important if you let people hunt your land that you let them know what is expected of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ditto as CoveyMaster! No worries with the gut pile, deer die in the wild every day, eaten by other animaks, the guts are nothing new !
While it's no ideal I don't think it will hurt anything. Gut piles are part of nature and it will be gone before it's time for you to hunt.
Yes, but this gut pile was allegedly left in the middle of dude's active food plot. I can think of better places to leave them. Maybe the woods?
Your there, the deer is dead there....you'd probably disturb things more taking it someplace unnecessary. The disturbance is already done as soon as you walked up to the deer. I don't see a lack of a gut pile mitigating it.
Seen tons of deer go smell a gut pile of the yotes hadn't finished it off. They smell and experience some more primal stuff every day. A gut pile is probably a Tuesday night for them. I my experiences a few yotes will take care of a gut pile in a night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Right, and I don't see the presence of a gut pile helping anything either. As per the OP, this is apparently straining a relationship because of this guys shortsightedness.
I be excited to shoot some yotes. It won't hurt your hunting anymore than him dragging it out after one or two days. Don't sweat it
Honestly, I wasn't thinking its a season ender. It's just frustrating, because others have told him where to leave the leftovers. Thanks for the responses.
My brother has shot a buck over a gut pile from the deer he shot the night before No worries in my book.
If he was told not to gut the deer there and he did it anyway he shouldn't be allowed to hunt anymore. But like others said I always gut my deer where they die and it's never hurt a thing.
I had a video of 3 deer eating the corn out of my buddies deers gut pile.. Put it in front of the trail cam to see what would take it and 3 deer ate the stuff! You'll be fine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
