Over the past few years I have actually seen more nice bucks after gun season is over than before it.
Yep sure do. Tomorrow is our opener and I cant stand it. Seems like after gun season deer are nowhere to be found. But, aint nothing I can do about it besides join the madness haha
I could really care less. I just try to adapt to the conditions. I wish the gun hunters well and hope they see the bucks of their dreams this morning. I wish them more luck if they are with their kids and friends.
This year, the park where Kendall, Deb, Louie and I hunt will be closed to shotgun hunting. (usually it was doe only... but still open to shotgun hunters). Some of the bucks we've been seeing will surely be taken by the numerous shotgun hunters around the park... but I doubt it will hurt the hunting for us very much. With the park being closed to shotgun hunters... it may actually become a brief sanctuary for the deer. There is one patch of corn near the park I hope they don't take down until after shotgun season. (insert evil smilie here) Oh, and I have a shotgun tag.. so I'll be out in blaze orange here in Mclean County. If I should be lucky enough to fill that tag early.. I'll go to one of the public hunting areas that allows bowhunting during shotgun season. :D
