    My First deer ever!

Perfect lung shot with my Mossberg 500 and Remington sabots. I gutted him without throwing up. Husband helped a little. He got his in the morning. We had to borrow another gambrel to hang mine up.

He is legal with a 1/2 inch to spare.

I'm really sad that hunting season is mostly over. I really hunted hard during bow and learned a lot just by sitting and watching. My bow season was very successful by my standards. I saw deer out a few times and even had a chance at a shot on a spike(not this one).

Congats to the kid!...my stepdaughter got buckfever so bad she said she couldn't shoot at a 5pt tonight at 35 yds out - would have been her first(it was also her first buck ever seen while out hunting though), so I am proud she elected not to shoot at all vs risking a wounded buck or wasted shot.

Just wondering P.T. - should I post up the crossbow kill doe from this morning here...I was wearing all blaze orange and it is firearm season :p

That is still a good deer for public land! That grasslands hunt is definitely one I would like to cross off my list someday.

I doubled up on a couple a Does yesterday! Shot em about a half hour apart and they dropped about 15 yards from each other!

I've got one to add here this year. Haven't gun hunted in a few years, but I wanted every chance I could get to kill this guy. He grosses 186 6/8" unofficially, my best buck ever.

A lot of awesome pics and stories in here. I hate to not comment on them all, but congrats Scott to your nephew, and John..........that's an absolute hammer. Congrats to both of you and and everyone else as well.

I managed to get away from home for a couple of hours this weekend for the first time in a while thanks to my wonderful wife. I did manage to swat a doe last night with the .270, and can't tell you how thankful I am to have finally gotten out and to have some meat in the freezer.

    Great buck, congrats!

PS.. Hope that rifle was unloaded. Sorry just a pet peeve when I see the muzzle pointing at someone.

Yeah, that wasn't my doing. The cameraman put it there. It was completely unloaded. I care for my safety more than a picture!

Got my first of the season on Saturday with my 12 gauge. Bow season has been frustrating here in Bama, so it was nice to get some meat in the freezer. I am not happy with myself on it though, thought it was a doe and turned out to be a spike, his horns actually ran the contour of his head and ears were up in front of them so I didn't see them. Wish I had glassed it first, would have let him walk and hopefully get through the season. Gun season is nuts in Bama though, started Saturday and goes to Jan 31st so I have to compete with that on days I bowhunt.
